What's new

Following Potential 2018 Draftees

was a little disappointed in his measurements was hoping he was a little taller but has a great wingspan. The guy also plays 24/7. He doesnt take plays off

Washington is about an inch or so bigger (and slightly heavier) than Miles Bridges, but with several more inches of wingspan. He can probably play either forward position, especially if he's as athletic as some of those testing numbers indicate.

If last year's draft was heavy with guard talent near the top, this one has wings and forwards. Teams can pick a guy based on his style of play. That's good news for the Jazz. I'd like to see the Jazz come away with two guys--one each to replace Sefalosha and Jerebko at the 3 and 4 respectively. If we lose Joe Johnson and Derrick Favors in the offseason, we're going to be thin at the position and scrambling for some free agent talent to fill in the gap. But a young core with Mitchell, Hood, Gobert and a couple promising 20 year-old forwards would be ideal.

Not sure where to bring up the elephant in the living room, so I'll do it here. Below is a partial list of star players, or borderline star players, who left small market teams to play in bigger markets, get paid, be more featured, win easier, etc. Lets say the Jazz can add and develop one or two more star players to become legit contenders. What is the chance that the Jazz can actually keep the group together?

- Carmelo Anthony (Denver Nuggets) --> New York
- Chris Bosh (Toronto Raptors) --> Miami
- Vince Carter (Toronto Raptors) --> New Jersey
- Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder) --> Golden State
- Kevin Garnett (Minnesota T'wolves) --> Boston
- Paul George (Indiana Pacers)--> LA TBD
- Gordon Hayward (Utah Jazz) --> Boston
- Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic) --> LA
- Lebron James (Cleveland Cavs) --> Miami
- Joe Johnson (Phoenix Suns) --> Atlanta
- Shawn Marion (Phoenix Suns) --> Miami
- Tracy McGrady (Orlando Magic) --> Houston
- Shaquille O'Neal (Orlando Magic) --> LA
- Chris Paul (NOLA Hornets) --> LA
- Amare Stoudemire (Phoenix Suns) --> New York

Phoenix had a team with Steve Nash, Joe Johnson, Shawn Marion and Amare Stoudemire that was starting to dominate the west and couldn't ultimately keep that team together. The team was on the decline when Marion and then Stoudemire left though.

Toronto has had a difficult time keeping top-tier stars--e.g., Vince Carter and Chris Bosh--but part of that is how badly the team was managed.

Oklahoma City lost KD and likely will lose Paul George.

This will be the test for the Jazz. Lets say we come away with a Kevin Knox, Jared Vanderbilt, Justin Jackson, Miles Bridges, etc. and within a few years he pans out, along with Hood, Mitchell and Gobert. The Jazz move up to the 55-60 win range and are a top-3 team in the west with Golden State and Minnesota. Does Gobert (who will be 27 or 28) stay with the Jazz?

I think if there were more parity between the eastern and western conferences, Hayward probably would have stayed with the Jazz.

If I had my choice I would trade favors and jerebko to the Lakers for randle and Clarkson. Randle is the advantage for taking on Clarkson's contract.

I think randle is a good fit next gobert. He is not a great 3 point shooter yet but he is a face up 4 who is a good passer. Jazz would have to sign him for a lot next summer but it wouldn't be much more expensive then favors is going to be.

In this scenario the jazz could take the best wing available. Especially a 3/4

Yeah, not a fan of Randle. Would rather just draft Justin Jackson or one of these other guys we've been talking about. Randle now also needs to be paid something.

What about Ingram? We would have to offer some draft picks too but a few fans I have listened to online want to trade Ingram because of kuzma.
