What's new

Mitchell, the next Damian Lillard but with defense

You didn't see the game tonight, did you? 26 points and some unbelievable plays, including a clutch 3-pointer near the end that sealed the game for the Jazz. He had one outstanding play after another.

It was great. Fantastic.
Just one caveat though. Unlike you, I think the Lakers will suck big time this year. They will suck even more once Lonzo starts playing a lot again.

Never forget the Denver Nuggets traded us Rudy Gobert and Donvovan Mitchell for Trey Lyles, Tyler Lydon, Erick Green and cash.

I'm surprised more people here are not as excited about Mitchell as I am -- I checked on the Internet and people who are just basketball fans, not Jazz fans are gushing about him after tonight -- this game was nationally televised, so that is the reason for the response. There were even some saying that he will be better than Gobert.

Calm down my main man! You are not stumble on huge surprises. We all know and like Mitchell. Its true!

Gordon who? Rodney who? Alec who? We got our star and it’s DM! Incredible. That was the kind of performance you HOPE to see in year 5 maybe.

Are you new here or something? Read a few threads.

Everybody is excited about Mitchell. Every. Body.

Guis, I think it's pretty clear that Eenie-Meenie discovered Donovan Mitchell. He is the original discoverer and noticer of his body and talent.

I invented liking DM. You’re late.

True, but big men develop much slower back court players. So you can see Mitchell, but guys like Fes is a gamble.

Addictionary, did you really just compare Michell to Fes? Like, Fesenko? The goofball who never cared? The guy who was smoking before practice, died his hair to piss off Sloan, and never scored more than about 10 ppg in a summer league game until maybe his third season?

That is hilarious. You should get your hopes up my friend. Attitude, passion, the minutes quien has played him already. Barring injury, Mitchell will be playing 4th quarter minutes by December is my guess.

Eenie, you must have been living in a box. There have been a million posts praising Mitchell. I went to all of the summer league games as many of us did and we said that Mitchell was the best rookie summer league player the jazz had ever had. Name one that played better since the summer league began.

Dat Fesenko comparison doh...

What? DWill wasn't even close to this in his rookie year.
Whaaaat? You have a short memory. I love Mitchell and I agree that the kid is going to be an all star, but DWill was great in his first rookie game against Dallas. The reason why Williams wasn't as hyped is because he was playing behind milt "captain crunch pilacio

Well, I was p'o'd we didn't get Lillard -- basically because Corbin refused to tank. I think we might've been one pick away and probably could've traded up. KOC should've known better with Lillard playing college ball in Utah. But Corbin was trying to get into the playoffs to save his job. So the Jazz got swept by the Spurs and whiffed on getting Lillard. This time they hit a home run with Mitchell. Thank DL for that.

Corbin brought to Utah Trey Break instead of Greek freAK.
DL wanTed to pair him with Rudy but Corbin refused. Imagine this team.

I had much more reservation about DWill than mitchell. At times as a rookie he looked like he was running in mud. He was okay as a rookie.

DM looks like he can physically get where he wants to and has a lot of skill. He makes some rookie mental mistakes but is a fast learner. I can't remember a rookie I had higher hopes for... I also feel like whatever his ceiling is he will do everything in his power to get there.

I can't believe we got him for a pile of trey Lyles and Tyler Lydon. Basically turned straw into gold... DL is rumpelstilskin

When we played Phoenix and I saw they have earl Watson and ty Corbin on the bench I felt a little bit bad for suns fans.

Not really, he was benched for a while. He didn't take off until mid-season. And even then he was nothing like Mitchell.

I agree and I said the same as you after seeing him play the first time. It was clear to me then that as another poster described it -- he has the "it" factor. I think I just was the first one to be so excited about him, that's what I am saying because when I started to make the Lillard comparison awhile back, people were telling me to temper my expectations, that this is only summer league, etc. You heard what Mark Jackson said last night about him -- "this kid can flat out play."
