What's new

Mitchell, the next Damian Lillard but with defense

Don't forget that in Deron's rookie season Sloan stubbornly refused to feature him and played scrubs like Milt Palacio over him. Deron didn't begin flourishing until the end of his rookie season, when Miller finally forced Sloan to play him, and then his second year.
The milt palacio/keith mccleaod debacle.
Dark times

You didn't see the game tonight, did you? 26 points and some unbelievable plays, including a clutch 3-pointer near the end that sealed the game for the Jazz. He had one outstanding play after another.

mate i love the guy and think he's going to be awesome .. but all star this year ??? lol

I thought he'd be able to create shots like CJ McCollum and some people had compared him to Eric Gordon, but the way he gets downhill is really special, even compared to those two.

I thought he had great potential from the first shooting practice video I saw. Prior to that I was a little concerned about his shooting percentages in college, if I recall correctly.

I'm still concerned about his shooting.

I'm not. I think he shoots like Eric Gordon or Jet Terry.

Hey, here's an interesting highlight mix from last night. Notice Derrick Favors' passing on some of these plays.

Minus the ability to hit from the perimeter.

Gobert looks like he's rolling to the hoop with more force/intent than last year. Maybe I just never looked close enough.

NBA 3 is a different creature. Mitchell will adjust. Generally rookies don't light it up from 3, there is a adjustment period. Mitchell's shout is quick and easy which is generally what Rookies have to relearn in the league.

He didn't shoot well in college either.

Gobert's man hangs back sooo far on the Rubio Gobert PNR that Gobert gets a ton of momentum to the rim.

That baseline 3 Mitchell hit, where he crossed the floor and quickly squared off the feed from Joe Johnson was a very advanced shot. That's Jeff Hornacek or Terry Porter-level shooting.

There was a catch and shoot pullup 3 by Mitchell against the Suns (that obviously wasn't televised so not sure where to find it) but was really incredible. If I remember right it was a fastbreak kickout pass that was very low and he caught it and seemingly all in one motion stopped on a dime and pulled up and drained it.

EDIT: Found it at 1:20 mark

That was an impressive stop and gather.

Who was that who passed it to him?

Is there a video on demand of the Jazz Lakers preseason game anywhere? I missed it due to work conference and would like to catch it.
