What's new

Gamethread: OKC Thunder @ Utah Jazz. 7PM MST.

Both Denver and Minny are most likely playoff teams in the west IMO, and we came really close to being 2-0. Are you expecting us to blow out good teams? Considering the change in makeup of the team, I think we're doing just fine so far. On nights we're hitting our 3's, I think we can compete with anyone. On nights we're not hitting them, we'll likely struggle, but I'm not going to worry until we start getting blown out.

I think this Jazz team has great chemistry and potentially elite to legendary defense. I think they'll beat the best some nights. I also think there's a hole that could show itself some nights. I also think the chemistry will be strained if the team goes on a losing streak. The Rubio adjustment is going to take time. I hope things stay positive until that happens.

It's two games. I know we played good teams. I'm not going off scoring differential or record after two games. That was my long term take after seeing the team in action in regular season games. I'm not really all that insightful or knowledgeable, just figured I'd share my take.

If you don't think there are going to be some really ugly scoring droughts for this team, good on you. There will be times when no amount of D is going to make up for not being able to score. And I've been one who has been very much in the camp of "it's better to be one of the best in the NBA on one side of the floor than to be pretty good on one side and okay on the other." Meaning, I believe that the Jazz absolutely SHOULD go all-in with the defensive identity. I also fear players might lose faith in that if lack of scoring loses them emotional games, especially if the losses come in bunches. Defense is hard. Defense requires more than offense, imho. To keep the motivation level high on the defensive end could become a challenge if the players don't think it's working. I'm very afraid of that happening.

I could be wrong, but a quick glance at espn game-tracker shows Favors is our leading scorer and hasn't shot a FT. Wtf.

Look for me on the jumbo screen. I'll be the family of the game! Hopefully I'm still good luck...

I hope Rubio doesn't ball hog, or shoot....

Kinda just hope he doesn't try to dribble behind his back tonight. Pretty sure he lost the ball every single time he tried that last night. One time he tried it and lost the handle, only to regain the ball and immediately try going behind his back again - then lost the ball for a to.

Ingles and Thabo are decent match ups for PG13 and Melo, can make life hard if they are locked in... Hoping Rubio can stay in front of Rus.

Expecting a pumped up Gobert !

Westbrook had a quadruple double last time he played against rubio. 21p, 11r, 12a and 10 turnovers while shooting 7/24 and 1/10 from downtown in a loss. That would be fine by me tonight.

Jazz will keep the game within striking distance and then with about 4 minutes in the 3rd remaining, will start to close the gap. Back and forth in the 4th quarter until we finally put it away and win by 5.

thunder are stacked to hell...their bench is suspect...we need our bench to come up and win this for us. That you AB!

look at our line up.

favors, doesn't stretch the floor

gobert, doesnt stretch the floor

rubio, doesn't stretch the floor

ingles stretches the floor but he needs to be open

mitchel, doesn't shoot the 3 well.
