What's new

Gamethread: OKC Thunder @ Utah Jazz. 7PM MST.

I'm a little disconcerted how he's looked undersized when he's getting to the rim and getting blocked so easily. Still think he'll figure it out tho

That is really the whole jumping off 2 feet thing I think. He gets under the rim and just can't get in the air in stride, makes him look smaller than he is I think. I saw that too.

Rudy taking a subtle shot at the refs

Rudy has to learn to flop or toughen up. He could learn a bit from Udoh on positioning for offensive rebounds. So many times it seems like Rudy has an easy offensive rebound but he gets dislodged or drops the ball due to the smallest contact.

He is also just really small. The guy is 6'1. He has an incredible wingspan, but that is more of a defensive tool. Even if he was a 1 foot jumper, it would be difficult for him to play above the rim consistently. Tonight he got into the paint a couple of times and made some great passes. As long as he is consistently breaking the paint, I'm impressed. His jumper will fall eventually, it's too pretty not to.

I would have said 2-1 was the best case scenario to start the season. Thought we'd win last night and lose the b2b.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Just enjoy his play for this game.

Ahead of ourselves? Surely he's on the leading vote getter for the all star team?

Seriously tho that post reminds of a night I bought some acid off these students in a share house in North Melbourne, all dressed like dweebs and one of them just kept repeating "Lets not get ahead of ourselves." Strange night.

Yeah but other guys that are small, like Parker or Stockton or Isaiah, don't seem so small in the same circumstances. They are more fluid in stride so it takes away some of the disadvantage of being shorter in the same circumstances.

Mitchell is showing he's easily quick enough to get into the paint, once he figures out how to capitalize on it he's going to settle down and kick on. I think his shooting sucks atm because he's a bit too hyped up. Long term having him and Exum able to penetrate and hopefully get to the line a lot will help make up for Rodney not really doing that

Most super stars under 7' aren't boxed in to being just 2 footed jumpers just like those who are solely 1 footed jumpers.

Good post, dude

I feel good about this win. I'm surprised to find that this thread is starting to make me feel bad about one of our players.

Well yeah, but during their rookie year they probably did. He has to learn to change pace in the paint, hit a floater, and freeze defenders in the paint. He showed some stuff tonight with his passing.

According to ESPN:

Westbrook was held to six points on 2-for-11 shooting. He was held to single digits just twice in the two previous regular seasons.

Also, my wife wanted to watch the game with me to learn about the players before we drive out for a couple of games in SLC next month. Since the Jazz won, I clearly have to make here watch every game from now on.
