What's new

Gamethread: OKC Thunder @ Utah Jazz. 7PM MST.

Great to see Favors hitting from mid range with regularity. I personally like that he's trying to extend his range to the three point line, even though he hasn't hit one yet.

Maybe, but those were the best looks OKC was getting. They have very little ball movement.

George was scared to shoot when he got in the paint cuz of our D. Russ just missed hard looks going to the rim. Both of them turned it over a lot too. Melo was their best option. OKC is never going to be a team that runs exotic half-court sets that impress. They live off transition, penetration, and mismatches. Utah took away most of that.

It's a little bit from column A and a little bit from column B. Melo is known for being in love with long ISO twos, and Thunder offense and ball-movement looked like **** the moment they weren't playing the Knicks. This will all end in tears for that team.

WTF is OKC doing... they adopted the throw it to Melo every damn time offense... Favs did a great job checking him.

Ingles > Curry
Udoh = draymond green + Rudy Gobert

Teams will hate playing us... it manifested itself tonight. Pesky defense... 48 minutes of run protection... running around endless screens.

It's a slow squeeze until the opponent just taps out.

Also I thought our offense was supposed to look like crap since we don't have alpha ISO scorers... OKC has three and they look like dog crap.

100% agree but I don't like him taking them when the game is on the line like in Minnesota.

Saint Cy of JFC serious question. How do you find time to post all day and everyday? Must be hard. I wish I had that kind of free time.

Mitchell shooting .222% from the field 3 games in. Next DWade or Tyreke Evans? To me, he looked like a super star until the season started. Dude looks panic'd, forced, lost and undersized in 3 games to me. Good thing there are 79 to go.

Patience... he's already learned a bit... tonight he was driving and instead of forcing up a contested layup he found guys for dunks.

He needs to see a three pointer go in... when his outside shot starts falling he will calm down.

Also his defense was pretty good tonight. He had Roberson and PG on him... let's let him get some confidence against an inferior opponent and build from there.

Wade shot .243 his first 3 games.

Deron Williams shot 38% from the field his first 3 months in the league. 31% from three. Put up bad numbers all across the board, basically.

Why am I a bad guy for calling an ace an ace?
I love Mitchell. He just looks overwhelmed and forces shots too much. Sorry you guys are too sensitive to be objective.

There is way too much pressure and expectation on rookies. For the most part people should be expecting rookies to be overwhelmed and even perhaps throw up some not so pretty shots as they find their feet in the league.

For the most part, he seems to be holding up very well. There have been times where he has managed to get a couple of great plays in, whether they be dishes, blocks, steals etc. I expect some offensive struggle, but I'd rather him be slightly trigger happy (which he can turn down over time), than be too afraid to make mistakes (Like early Exum). Taking his shots helps him learn what he can and can't do in the league.

I also remember a guy named Joe Ingles who copped a lot of grief on this forum for poor shooting in his NBA debut stretch for the Jazz..(even at the time he was also relatively well seasoned as a basketball player as well). It took even him some time to adjust..I wonder if those people bagging Joe back then are still bagging him now.

Most normal rookies drafted even in the top 5 will have their share of woes. What I care more about is that he keeps putting in the effort to learn, grow and adapt. Needless to say that I think Donovan Mitchell will do just fine in this league.

Its just stupid to take anything at face value after 3 games. This is a rookie trying to catch up to the speed, size, and athleticism of professional basketball. To expect a person to come out and have everything click is insane. Hell, it took Hayward 5 years.

It's just as stupid being positive. Call an ace an ace. Mitchell has been mediocre so far. If you're upset by this, you're a homer.
