Salt Lake Tribune - Ekpe Udoh thinks he's a better defender than Rudy Gobert, and other Jazz notes

Oh epke, you're cute.

He didn't say he was the best. He said he was one of the best. I don't know how this is saying he is better than Rudy.

Get out. You don't want confidence in players? Derrick Favors once tweeted to Rudy that Rudy is the second best shot blocker in the league. Obviously everone knew Favors wasn't the better shot blocker but him sayin he's damn good is what I wanna hear. You want wimp attitude than go to a Laker forum.

Ya right

This whole story is nuts. He never said he was better than anyone specific. He said he thinks he's one of the best defenders in the world. I've never seen the Utah Jazz media manufacture a headline quite like this before.

Yeah, horrible headline. They have changed it, it now reads "Ekpe Udoh thinks he's one of the best defenders in the world, and other Jazz notes"

Ekpe was touted as a very good defender coming out of Baylor. I look forward to seeing him and Rudy on the floor at the same time (along with Thabo).

You know what, so far he's damn right about being one of the best defenders in the world.

Love watching Udoh "surprise" opposing players. He's been out of the league so long there really isn't a book on him right now (other than scouting reports which we know no one reads).

Got a kick out of watching Crawford trying to go one-on-one against him Friday night. And Saturday night Westbrook beat his man off the dribble, Udoh came to help and Russell almost launched a layup attempt over the backboard.

I'm still not sure what the final product will be win/loss wise; but right now The Jazz have something that no other team in the league has - 48 minutes of elite rim protection.

Please let Rudy see this.

And BTW, I agree with you. Thus far. Please WAKE UP, Rudy. You seem a step slow.

Teams aren't challenging him. They shoot more jumpers when he's on the floor. That's bigger than blocking four shots per game.

Agreed. That's affecting the game in so many ways favorable for the Jazz and speaks volumes of how much respect teams have for Rudy right now. And they are getting an education on Udoh.

Agreed. They are challenging Udoh because because he is relatively unknown.

Just wait till that same word and feeling get out about Udoh and the Jazz turn teams into long range J shooting teams. Ingles, Sefolosha Rubio and Mitchell will run them off the 3 point line.

Thoughts on this Jazz team being historically good on D?

Well, now that they've finally built a NAOS-approved roster, they probably will be historically great.
