What's new

Do you find the religious folk more weird here or in the South? Why or why not?
I've lived in the south for most of my life but Wyoming for 2 and some time in SLC. Nobody in the south is like the LDS culture. Not even close. There are cultural differences in FL, LA, AL, TN and NC for sure but the northwest in that area can be extremely different.

I’m an LDS convert (card-carrying member for almost 20 years). Used to smoke two packs a day, have a bunch of piercings, and some tattoos. Never felt looked down on or ever had any pressure to convert from multiple church members I knew (including family members) after I moved here from the Midwest. My grandmother was born-again evangelical Christian, my sister is a semi-lapsed Catholic, my brother is a non-practicing Lutheran and my dad is anti-LDS agnostic. Most of my mother’s family are LDS or non-active members. I’ve seen all sorts of viewpoints. Lived most of my life in the Midwest, and recently in NYC. Almost all of my friends there were either LDS ward members or hard core Catholics. Love them all dearly, but the Catholics and evangelicals are both pretty ****ing weird. I’ll take Utah any day over California, New York, Illinois, Missouri, Georgia or any other place that I’ve lived.
