Following Potential 2018 Draftees

This is an interesting year for me as my thoughts and views on prospects are going to be informed way more by draft twitter than draftexpress.
DX was great... I may end up buying insider as ESPN will finally have content worth paying for.

The videos Schmidt works on are awesome... that guy is going to be a big deal... at summer league he came in and everyone talks to that guy and you can tell they all love him.

More I think of it Trae Young may be one of the safer top 5 guys... Doncic excluded.

Worst case I think he's a better passing Lou Williams... Best case is Steph... He could cool off and make that look stupid, but a 54% 3 point attempt rate and a 47% FT attempt rate is basically what Harden is doing right now. I see no way he isn't an incredibly impactful offensive player. His steal and rebound rates suggest he's a decent athlete and may be okay/adequate on that end.

The 4 spot has changed so much in recent years, and I think that trend will continue. Playing 1-in/4-out, or even 5-out is how teams want to play now; Bridges as a 4 fits that concept.

it's not unheard of. There are a handful of guys playing the 4 rn w/ similar measurements.

I just wish he had a longer wing span that is all. His standing reach is pretty pedestrian but he makes up for a lot of that with athleticism. Don't get me wrong I would not complain if the Jazz drafted him. I just think he might be more of a bullish 3.

I still want a 4 to rebound, say at least 7 - 8 rebs per game. Some of these converted wings won't do that. It's one of the reasons that Boston isn't an elite team yet.

This is a huge point. Jazz do need a 4 that can rebound well

Boston doesn’t have Gobert... we are fine with a guy like Bridges at the 4.

Yeah and the year is going to be 2018 and bullish 3s are now called 4s.

Here is my attempt at a big board entering the conference play. Didnt spend a ton of time on it, and probably already disagree with stuff on it, but I think it represents what I believe loosely.

I think I'd take Simons over Walker. Just seems to be more advanced as a creator off the dribble, which raises his ceiling in my mind.

Just read an interesting article on Mikal Bridges (can't connect it because I am at work) but they compare Mikal Bridges to Otto Porter and I think that was a spot on comparison. Great 3 point shooter that plays great defense

Yeah, I hate judging players based purely off high school videos, but whatcha gonna do...

I kind of like the mystery there though... some of these guys raise their draft stock quite a bit in college so u might get some value... opposite is also true but we are mining for gold.

If Simons can translate his shot to the NBA, then I think he’ll be really good. Usually guys HS tapes show dunks and layups - evidence of them being superior athletes. I love it when the tape shows them shooting it from all over the court. Those are guys worth keeping an eye on.

I've marked the date in the calendar when Isaac Bonga comes to my town. Gonna be interesting to watch him in person.

I like Lonnie Walker because he looks like Basquiat w/ his hair.

Great reference

I remember Otto Porter being kind of creative off the dribble in college. More than Bridges imo. I also remember being kind of leary of Otto Porters athleticism, which i am not concerned about with Bridges.

Im a Simons guy too. Hes pretty spindly and it will prolly take his entire rookie contract before he becomes a contributor tho lol

Watched Bamba put up 22, 15 and 8 blks against Kansas - after a 17, 11 and 6 block performance vs Alabama. He appears to be getting it in terms of having an impact on both ends of the floor. 2 or 3 of his blocks were balls that only Rudy, maybe Deandre Jordan get to. I still don't like how weak he is, but he has some legit offensive potential - hit a three and looked pretty good doing it. I don't know where i'd slot him in terms of draft, but it would be tough to pass on that potential at around #5.

the HS freshman right now are INSANE..... This seems like it could be the best crop I've ever seen....

There's gonna be a noticeable step-up in talent int he 2020's mark my words... The forwards in particular flashing tons of skill very early. This kid looks like a future lottery pick ez, he looks better than Noah Vonleh at the same age easy.

I've talked some about kids from Wisconsin, the big one was Henry Ellenson and Diamond Stone in the same draft, Kevon Looney too. From a quick google search it appears that Michael Finley is the GOAT player from Wisconsin -- this kid might have a chance to take the title, thats how I feel..
