Man I REAAAAAAALLLY want to like the guy, he is such a good guy and a good character for this franchise. He is a really good passer, but a terrible shooter. He would have been elite 15 years ago, but... today's PG needs to shoot the 3. I really want to like the guy, I really do, he is 26, and i'm going down with the ship as a Rubio homer :(

Last night he shot the ball really well....... Sadly he was last on the team in the plus minus stat by a ton with a negative 25.
next worse was JJ with a -17. after that, udoh with a -8.

So rubio finally shoots the ball well and the team plays like total **** while he is on the court anyways.

As a person, he is a great addition to our franchise. As a player, he is a disappointment. He wouldn't have fit with Hayward either. Poor fit since we are a grinding team.

In hindsight, we should have never given up a 1st for him. We should have said multiple 2nd rounders or no deal.

Oh well, hindsight is always 20/20 as they say.

DL is great but grabbing Rubio was probably his worst move. If he can trade him it could be his best move. Unlikely though.

Instead of Rubio, we could have absorbed a bad contract, picked up a first to get Mitchell and keep Lyles.

But Favors and anybody else would have still taken all of Lyles' minutes.....

I don’t understand how this team can’t ever seem to run a 3-2 or even 3-1 fast break. Maybe I’m so used to Stockton being able to run that with the team filling lanes and get solid results but why does it feel like Rubio can’t run one? Just me? We get a steal above the break and are off running but spacing sucks or nobody runs back with the stealer and we have to back it out. Frustrating.

In Minny, Rubio never attack the hoop, he always pass. He is always accompanied by teammates to finalize.

This is Utah:

The first scene = deja vu

Utah have three players in the top 30 steals (Rubio, Mitchell and Sefo) and its incredible that this statistic is not reflected in points... The Utah problem isnt Rubio, is ignore the virtues and defects of the team.

I have yet to see this good passer. I think that Rubio is a myth.

So what your saying is that Rubio is only effective if he has guys who can finish in heavy traffic against his guy and their guy. That's asking a lot, and makes him a net negative player on the court. Rubio is one of the major defects with the team. The team is better when he is not in the game.

Rubio isnt a finisher, he is playmaker. And Utah does not run without a ball, you kill that creation.

It is possible that in this Utah you win in attack without Rubio, but you lose in defense. I think that this applies to Gobert too...

I think some players in Utah are untapped.

He have record assits in Minni. You will not see it in Utah because the team has another style of play.

Rubio has not been a good defender for Utah. He's a Ronnie Brewer type defender than can't defend his own man but does get in passing lanes. It's my contention that this type of defender makes spectacular defensive plays but is a poor defender because they don't stop their man. Utah is worse when he is on the floor.

Also having record number of assists for a team that's never really had a good PG is not saying a lot.

Ricky Rubio has had 10 or more assists with the Jazz (the part of his game I was most looking forward to) 3 times - all with in the first five games. Last year, he had 10 or more assists in 34 games. Playing for Minny was like Amare playing for the Suns with Nash. Once they left, they were exposed.

Dude is not an NBA starter and if he is, his team isn't going to the playoffs.

Amar'e was great with Knicks until injuries and Carmelo killed his career.

It seems that for the first time in his career, Ricky was given the green light to shoot. And in the first few games, he was hitting those mid-range shots running off Gobert picks. But it was fool's gold. He went back to normality but instead of shooting less, he continues to shoot more. Look at last game he shot the ball without giving it up, what was it, four straight times -- I'm thinking what is he doing?

In one game, he did it seven times. The thing is that teams have been scouting him and see this tendency and continue to lay off him and let him shoot. And for some reason, Ricky think he needs to shoot -- because that is Quin's philosophy, if you are open, shoot the ball. Ricky seems to have taken that to heart and feels he is free to shoot whenever he wants. He seems to have forgotten how to play the role of pass-first PG that he has played his entire career. He needs to think about this and get back to his former ways. I think though that he has ruined his chemistry with this team and we need to trade him, ASAP.

It's not only Rubio but also the Jazz current roster. Ingles, Joe Jesus, Hood, Jerebko, Favors are not particularly good at that. Maybe you could expect more action with Donovan, Burks and hopefully Dante.

I think something, somewhere was missed with Rubio. I feel like a lot of the team will thrive when they are elsewhere next year unfortunately--similar to Lyles. Not sure if it's a ton on Quinn. I don't think most of them are going to get resolved in Jazz unis. Just a hunch. I'm not basketball smart enough to say what it is about each guy, just a gut feeling.

In a season where Rudy looks amiss (when healthy) compared to last it's easy to see, but I don't know why it's been this way, but nobody has really taken a step forward this year. Sad really. I don't know what to make of it at this point other than we have lots of good bench guys trying to do starter things. I feel like Rubio has the same disease as the rest of the team. whatever that is.

don't feel down or question your love for Rubio, he will get it and will certainly figure it out in due time.

Like figure out that he needs to stop shooting and stop dribbling so much. Sometimes he keeps dribbling and there is no movement and he has no choice but to shoot because the other team is letting him shoot. And damn, he should just pass the ball instead and let someone who can shoot and create a shot do it -- he shouldn't need to figure this out. He's got plenty of experience. That's why he needs to go and reflect on how his game has gone in the toilet.
