That's my prediction. Love is a better 4/5 than Kanter. I don't think Enes would be their choice. Rubio is coming over so they're not going to want Knight. Maybe the only hope is that they think a guy like Valanciunas could be their center of the future. Then I think they'd be willing to move back 1-2 slots.

Even if it drops to #9 or #10 in a better draft we can still get a very good player. KOC drafted some stiff named Hayward at #9, if I recall correctly. No, not untouchable, but using it this year to marginally improve a pick would be unwise. I think that pick plus expirings (Okur, CJ, etc.) might be a lot more valuable at the deadline and AFTER the new CBA is in place. If some teams need to dump salaries, the Jazz will probably have enough room to acquire a very good veteran. Offer CJ, Bell and the GS pick for a starting SF (or Okur + the pick if the vet is high-priced).

I really don't think this is a bad idea at all. It depends on a lot of factors, like if Biyombo falls to 12 and you miss out on him, that'd be a tough pill to swallow. Or what your intelligence is on who's going where in the top 3. If Williams really is the 2nd best player and you know Minnesota wants Kanter at 2, what's the point? But if Irving doesn't go first and you pass on getting to 2, that's an even tougher pill to swallow. There's a lot of room for shifting in this draft, making a trade like the one you're proposing is something you have to do late and do your homework on. But I think it's probably a good move.
And at 20, Reggie Jackson seems as good to me as most of the people you might find at 12.
Seems like too much to give up to move up one spot.
Jazz are in no lose situation.
They will get one of top three players at #3.
They need help at all three positions.
Plus they keep the #12 pick which could steal a very good player.
Well, the Jazz did trade the #6 pick to the Trailblazers for the #3 about 5 years ago to get a PG.

Can someone please explain to me why Minnesota does this given their current situation?
This might look good abstractly, but it isn't going to happen. I agree with NUMBERICA that you'd only do this late in the game, and after extensive homework... but, still, ain't happening; it makes it harder for Minn to address their needs.
(I guess the only way I see it happening is if they decide they want Kanter, and then bait us into giving up a pick and/or a player in addition these terms.... right before time expires)

Looks like a few people have suggested trades that involve Minnesota's 2012 first rounder. They don't have it. LAC have it, and it's unprotected. But given LAC's luck, Minnesota will finish with the best record next year.
I agree. If the Cavs pick Kyrie Irving and Minnesota decides they would prefer Kanter to Williams, then I can see this trade happening.

For those of you who think Minnesota would take Williams and "just" trade Beasley, my question is this: who would want Beasley. If I recall correctly, Miami had to give Beasley away to get rid of him. Who is lining up for Beasley? I don't think Beasley is going anywhere because nobody wants him.
