Snyder is a great x'o's coach. He's got a terribly designed roster and a fetish for playing Favors, Rubio, and Gobert. Maybe he just needs a boost via trade to get rid of someone.

I'm quickly souring on Snyder. The defense sucks, the offense is easy to guard. Sure, some players have developed under his coaching, but some have not. I'm not sure his success rate is much different than any number of other coaches.

I think Quin is a good coach but this Rubio **** is baffling. Unfortunately, these are idiosyncrasies you will deal with for any coach, good or bad.

I think you’re seeing Quin and the FO doubling down on the Rubio situation as a defense mechanism because it’s patently obvious to the lay eye (even before the trade) that this isn’t/wouldn’t work. You see this a lot when people who are supposed to be far separated from the lay man make mistakes. When a physician makes an incredibly poor choice and a patient or, worse, their family, questions or suggests reasonable alternatives, there’s usually a digging in if the heels and a doubling down. That’s what we’re seeing. Most of the time (95+% of the time), the lay person lacks a larger perspective, but that’s not exclusively true, and unfortunately this dynamic tends to induce a lot of blind spots. Rubio’s our blind spot.

what's up with the analogies bro? :D what's your point again?. No pun intended, but it's easy to get lost when you stray from basketball

Maybe we are in the same page. I feel that Quin was dealt a ****** hand and now has to find ways to make it work, while trying to keep the player's trade value up (thus pleasing the FO). It's a bad situation for any coach
 
Just catching up a bit. Some of you think he's a good coach, just got on that tank train.

Doesn't make sense.

can't ride the tank train forever. sooner of later you want to win.

owners hire coaches to win with whatever talent they've got. hmmmm..... how much cash do tank teams get each year trading out their raw talent?

Rubio is bringing everyone down but he still gets the start, his defensive is as overrated as his playmaking ability.

Coaches need to be consistent. Quin has never been. He'll put Exum and Burks in the doghouse for weeks on end but then blows his wad over Rubio?

Quin’s a good coach but often people take an all-or-nothing approach to that. It’s possible to be a good coach and also do some really ****** things. Quin (and DL’s) most prominent one happens to be Rubio. Sloan’s was the lack of acknowledging the existence of getting an extra point for shots behind that kind-of circle painted on the court. That and some substitution patterns, plus his over reliance on guys who played hard but didn’t have a brain (Bell, Harpring). Despite that he’s a HOF coach. However, that doesn’t mean those were hall of fame decisions — same goes for Quin (his ****** Rubio management doesn’t alone make him a bad coach).

Its the GS series
Its Burks/Exum
Its Favors
 
I don’t think Quin has a ton to work with. He’s the same coach that won 51 games last season and a playoff series. Coaches are important, great players are more important.


This kind of competitiveness from players bothers me as a fan. I like Royce, but after getting embarrassed by the worst team in the league and showing little to no effort as a team, the last thing you do if you care about losing is post this on twitter:



Not to mention Favs smiling and joking, Donovan smiling and joking before they even leave the court. Sorry, as a competitor a sorry loss like tonight should bother you more than when the buzzer goes off. Maybe i was spoiled by guys like Stockton and Malone who were true competitors and not patting the opposing guys on the back for embaressing them. I would prefer the D-Will grumpiness after a bad embaressing loss like this at least I knew he cared about losing.

The makeup of the team isn't good for how his offense is designed. If he benches Ricky he loses him probably for good, and the other option is Raul Neto or an oft injured Hood who is on the trading block. I think Quin has shown that he's a good coach when he has the right players, and his system works well on both ends with the right players. This year is kind of a punt for me. Rubio didn't work, Dante got injured so there's not an easy replacement. Hood injured, Rudy injured, JJ got old, Thabo injured. I mean the list goes on and on.

I do think Quin deserves some criticism for inconsistent handling of players (JJ, Rubio, Burks, Jerebko come to mind) but at the same time he's in a no-win situation in a couple of these cases.

Who gives a **** what Rubio thinks. A good coach doesnt let a player dictate their terms. Especially a spud like Rubio.
