Do we ever contend for titles with no upgrades to this current lineup? Not likely. So this is not the way to go.
Undermanned?Interesting approach.
All I will add is that if it's approached from an asset-management standpoint and the Jazz understand they're still undermanned at the end of the day, then great. If it all pans out that way.
Out-gunned then you pedantic mother-****er. They're not a contender.Jazz are one of the deepest teams in the NBA. Exum is about to come back. They are overmanned if anything.
When is Exum expected to return??Are any of those numbers actually realistic though? I would guess that they all get more than that on the open market, possibly not Favors, but I think he gets at least 15. Hood probably about the same, and Exum... We'll have to see how he plays when he returns.
Here's a visual of what the Jazz salaries could look like next year if they kept everyone. I think it would definitely put the Jazz into the luxury tax. View attachment 5563
Imagine being on a 6 game win streak in which you blow out the Warriors and beat two very good playoff teams on the road, then complain about not having enough talent.Out-gunned then you pedantic mother-****er. They're not a contender.
I'd be shocked if Favors got that much. I honestly dont expect him back at all, but if he did, I would expect it at 10-12 million at most. I dont think the Jazz are going much above that. 2019 is where they are setting their sights. I wouldn't be surprised if they thought they had a shot a Kawhi Leonard. Here's a visual of what the Jazz salaries could look like next year if they kept everyone. I put this together when their pick looked lower and rounded up. I still won't be one bit shocked if Rodney gets a $17 million offer sheet. You could give or take a few million on any of those salaries really I think. If you wanna pay Rodney $17 million and get the 7th pick in the draft, who gets paid 4$ million, you are correct in that we will be paying the tax next year.
I was thinking through this same scenario last night (signing them on the cheap for future value) but the road block I came to is agents sniff this out and realize this is a short term issue with the cap and they have their clients sign 2 year deals with the second being a player option.
It’s a gamble on their part (injury concerns) but one they likely make. If you get Hood or Favors on a deal like that there is a lot of uncertainty for a potential trade partner halfway through next season.
Hard to predict but I’d imagine we see some contracts like that this offseason.

Jazz honestly just need to sit on their hands, nail the ****ing draft, try to extend Rubio next year, then go 10000% in on getting Kawhi to sign in 2019.
