Current Team Needs?

With the way the team is currently playing, what are the biggest areas of concern that need to be addressed? I really don't see many weaknesses, if we keep shooting "lights out."

What do we need to address through trades at the deadline?

  • Get more shooting - a team can never have too much shooting
  • Just acquire more assets for building in the future
  • Unload any bad contracts - only see AB contract as a concern.
  • If we are convinced that Fav and Hood are not going to be retained in the off-season, get something for them as long as we do not get ourselves in a worse situation than just letting them walk.

We still need more spacing (i.e. we can't rely on Rubio to continue to shoot like this). We need consistency, which would come by having more spacing from more shooting and not getting discouraged in first quarters and then getting blown out. We need more minutes for Udoh and we need more minutes from a 4 who can shoot threes. That's about it. Having a four that hits threes also hits about 3 birds with one stone.

Burks contract makes me squirm when I see it, that's something that needs to change. Maybe drop him for a pick or something, O'Neale has stepped right in for where we thought Burks would be. Hood is a restricted free agent, so we could match any offer and he would still be in Utah. Favors is the tough one. I've heard rumors that he doesn't want to resign. I honestly hope he does. With the way he has been playing, I could see the Jazz keeping him and trying to convince him to sign again. He is a solid player on this team, the type of guy we need. Free agent market won't be as hot as the last couple years, so maybe we got sneak in Favors to come back. After all, he has been here the longest and he's done a ton for us since we picked him up from New Jersey.

-We need Favors to be willing to take about 5 3’s a game and make at least 2 of them. It’s not even a need that he makes a huge percentage of them just that he is a threat to hit a few and spread the floor.

-You have a better chance at offloading Burks next season when his contract is expiring.

-Keep Hood so long as you feel he isn’t going to be way overpaid.

Jazz aren’t really that far away, or not as far away as it seems sometimes. We need that 3rd guy.

Imagine if we had one player, Jerbco on O and Udoh on D. Our needs would be met.

Jerbco Udoh.

That would mean he is shooting 40%. That would be a huge percent.

Actually, if we could consolidate a few of our players we’d be contenders:

- Rubio with Neto’s shooting
- Royce with Hood’s shooting and scoring
- Jerebko/Udoh

Raul Rubio
Mitchell
Royce Hood
Jerbco Udoh
Gobert

Title.

True didn’t think through how high of a percentage that would be. If you could get him to shoot 25-30% from 3 it would help.
He’s shooting 24.1%.

A dynamic wing scorer with a 3 point shot and a stretch-4 who can defend the perimeter. Basically the same as last summer and the same everyone else in the league wants. :D

Marshon Brooks

I think a wild card in all this is Georges Niang.

I'm convinced Niang is an NBA player. The Jazz just need to find a spot for him .
