Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

I read just fine. You just said being able to take on trash on bad contracts to acquire draft picks was more important to you than having a good, contributing player. That's rebuild 101.

Getting a good player worthy of their salary and probably wants to be here is not a half-measure.
Fournier isnt worth his salary and he coudlnt be a starter on the Jazz (unless they plan on moving Mitchell to the PG, which there is no indication of, at least during the span of Fournier's contract).

I don't think Hood wants to come off of the bench and I don't think the Jazz want to pay him to come off the bench. I'm sure this has been mentioned a few times already.
His wanting to come off the bench or not is inconsequential. I dont think any young NBA player wants to be a bench player and would prefer situations in which they start.

The problem is, like you said, how much do you really want to pay a non-starter when you have dreams of probably signing a stretch 4 or a max player in 2019? It's probably just unwise to invest too much money into a likely 6th man (unless you move Mitchell to PG and Hood becomes the starting 2-guard). It's an unfortunate money allocation issue. I

I think Udoh is better than Favors and I think, as a team, we'd perform better if Udoh had more minutes. I think we play Favors over him because of history and I think the idea that we play Bradley over him "because we used a first rounder on him" is equally flawed. Remember, you were on the arguing end of using Mack above Exum because you thought Mack was playing better, so I think playing Udoh over Bradley, unless Bradley takes that spot away from him, is quite reasonable.

Udoh, is not better than Favors. Not at all.

I think there's a possibility you can still get him on a team-friendly deal that could still allow you to pursue a max in 2019.

I disagree, what if nothing happens? Who's his agent btw?

I think that's the point, it's suppose to make something happen.

It's not like he cursed the Jazz in this interview. He didnt pull an Enes Kanter. He said if he stayed here he'd still go about his business the same way.

As far as a player trying to make a trade happen through an interview, he did about as little collateral damage as possible.

Yeh, its possible. It's also possible he gets an Evan Fournier contract and you suddenly cant trade him without taking back a ****** contract because half the NBA is ****** contracts now.

If he is locked into his contract he may be fine coming off the bench or at least warm to the idea. I think a rotation of Rubio, DM, Evan, Ingles, Royce is diverse and has some interchangeableness (not a word). If Exum is healthy we have a lot of options 1-3... with Royce playing small ball 4 sometimes.

If the cost is AB and a second I'd do it... I doubt they would take it unless they think Evan helps them win too much this year.

He's a better defender. He's a better rim protector. I'm not sure if he's a better overall player because he hasn't had a chance to play as much. I think he might be a better fit on this team and in this system. Favs is definitely more skilled offensively. If I had to choose one guy to be my backup 5 only I'd go with Udoh all day. But Favs can also play the 4.
