Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

Crowder and Rose (even just to cut him) both qualify as guys that weren’t on the radar. Interested to see if there’s any other moves made today.

Still think that Burks needs to head out for the benefit of both sides

I agree. Crowder has been discussed for a while now, but nobody really thought that deal was going down especially not like that.

Burks going would be so great for him and us.

This just absolutely isn't true. Houston has $88 million on the Books for 2019, not counting non-guaranteed or any cap holds.

$81.5

Dude, Basketball Insiders is on it. Just open the link. http://www.basketballinsiders.com/houston-rockets-team-salary/

Sure, they will add more salary this summer through Capella and others, but as of this moment they, like most of the league, has enough money for one major (not necessarily max) contract in 2019. And that doesn't even include stretch players.

I'm extremely happy the Jazz didn't lost Hood for nothing. It was obvious, just looking at their cap situation, that they weren't going to re-sign him next year. I would have rather had a 1st round pick rather than Crowder, but at least we got something.

Trade clean up: Cavs sent Kings $2.1M in cash, Jazz sent Kings $1.1M cash & Cavs agreed to second-round swap rights with Utah in 2024. Cavs also got rights to Arturas Gudaitis from Sac & traded rights to Dimitrios Agravanis.

My god. I fear for or franchise if DL ever has to deal with Ainge. He got schooled by a rook.

Changing it from max space to "major contract space" is different bud. It is extremely valuable, especially if you are winning AND have the max space.

Just because a team has a free agent they want to keep doesn't mean they keep them. You're forgetting teams like Houston, the Bucks and so many more that have space. If they use that space on their free agent, then so be it. Doesn't mean they don't have space.

You are only considering the teams that have absolute space right now but you aren't counting everybody. If you count everybody, it's like 20 teams.

I never said max space from the beginning. I said major space. Good Lord go find it. My point was that a majority of teams will have space to play in free agency in 2019.

Tony Jones tweeted that a trade simply had to happen because "Hood's relationship with the Jazz had run its course."

I think Utah just had enough of him being out for 3 games any time he fell on the ground.

Yeah, I think every team in the league knew that and we got less for him than he is worth. Almost like the Kanter situation.

Nene doesn't have an ETO so they got that wrong.

Vonleh just got traded for the rights of Milocan ****ing Rakovic and Portland had to add cash. LOL.

lol. DL spends the summer telling the world that the jazz believe in Rodney and think he can be a #1 option. Rod ***** himself, the bed, his shorts.... and then... bye Felicia.

Tony doing PR work downplaying how bad DL got worked.

Clearly looks like getting Crowder (and his fantastic contract) and getting something back knowing they wouldn’t commit to resigning Rodney Hood this offseason ended up being the motivation for the trade.

Which is a shame. I think Rodney is better than Crowder, but I understand wanting cost controlled options moving forward. Just have to hope for a jump from Crowder (which could happen under Quin) and a secondary move to unload Burks. I’m hoping for a DMC reunion.

I will say this. . . Jae Crowder (pre-Cleveland) certainly seems to fit the culture of this team.

Yeah the Kanter situation is also how I thought of it. Except Hood and his camp have been really respectful about it. Sees himself as a starter but plays the same position as a future star.
