Hood traded to Cleveland for Crowder; Johnson to Sacramento

you asked why they were chummy, hun. But whatever. Go back to your crazy under-evaluation of Ingles.

I said they were chummy and asked if they had ever been teammates. You said that was a dumb question. It seems like a pretty reasonable one. But I know you like to be an *** hat to sound cool, so carry on. No one here is undervaluing Ingles on this end.

Crowder is moving from the Cavs locker room to the Jazz locker room. Talk about changing hell for heaven. Also, from Lue to Snyder. He must be giddy right now.

This is what Im curious about. Its not out of the question that a toxic locker room hampered his abilities, its not like he was the only one on that team struggling.

Terrible trade. How could anyone possibly think the Jazz won a trade when they get a player whose production is literally half of that of the player we're sending to Cleveland?

It's not that simple though. We have Donovan and Ricky who are both at their best with the ball in their hands. Dante Exum is about to return and the front office wants him to be aggressive offensively. Hood needs the ball to be effective. That's 4 ball dominant guards. With 3 I think the Jazz can find ways to make it work. 4 is just a mess. So the Jazz really had to decide which 2 of the Rubio/Exum/Hood trio were going to stay.

They decided that Crowder on a great contract + Rubio, Exum and financial flexibility was the move.

I think that price range is reasonable for his performance and I'm not sure why the Jazz would be scared of that. I like his versatility on offense a lot

It is entirely reasonable for 82 games, you don't really get that out of Hood. The Jazz organization has a full knowledge over things we just speculate about.

you can't stop, can you.

Crowder doesn't need the ball to be effective. He's going to keep opposing 3/4s from dropping into the paint to double Mitchell, and his defensive intensity is going to fit in with our team like adding molasses to barbecue sauce. I like this trade a lot.
I agree. Lindsey is the opposite of Cleveland. He doesn't just try to acquire talent, he tries to build a coherent team by acquiring players with specific strengths that fit together in a grander scheme. He's more like an architect and a puzzle solver, which I like.

Nope, but you did clarify the situation for me with that last post. You miss read my post and decided to it was a good chance to take a shot Y. Its a little embarrassing for you but I am sure you will stick it out at this point. You are good at that.

more wrong.

This trade is horrible: Why? Because there are not a lot of teams that can offer Rodney a max contract this summer and there's more free agents than money, so Utah could've low balled him into a 15-17 mil a year deal that's cost efficient for a 2nd/3rd option on offense. Crowder is in a slump and the value of Hood should equal the Nets first provided we take back a bad contract.
I obviously don't know if Rodney wanted out or if the team wanted to get rid of him for whatever reason. I'm just not psyched about the return.

15-17 million for a one-dimensional player who misses a ton of games? That's insane. It would be one thing if we had a ton of cap room, but we don't. You only sign Hood to that contract if you're absolutely satisfied that the roster you have today is the one you want to stick with for the foreseeable future. The Jazz had to trade him.

The more I think about this, the more I feel good about what we got. Hood was out the door anyway and we got a good defender, decent 3pt shooter, who could play multiple positions, and who plays hard.

It's a line drive for a double at the moment, but if Crowder could play up to the level he was playing in BOS it could turn into a home run for DL.

so how does this work money wise. i thought the contracts had to match but we are also taking on rose's contract. there has to be a pick or something. For people complaining, I remember 80 percent of the board where clamoring for Crowder after losing the player never to be mentioned.

Because he was meant to be compensation for Benedict not paid for with Hood.

Now that Hood is gone, I can let the extent of my disdain for him fly.

Excited to see how a guy who didn't show in almost every game that mattered will play in the situation he's in now.

Softest Jazz player I can think of besides AK.

Ultimately, last year we knew we couldn't afford Favors, Hood, and Exum.

Now, at the very worst we could easily afford Favors, Exum, and Crowder.

We also have some room to upgrade if needs be.
