Hood traded to Cleveland for Crowder; Johnson to Sacramento

Sorry, I havent read them. So stupid that I havent read those posts and asked about them. Its so dumb that I thought maybe they played together when they both played for the same team.

Can you please link or bump those posts I would like to read them, so I wont be so stupid again and embarrass you in front of your friends.
ok. I'll look when I have time. Until then, you should go back to explaining how Crowder is so much better than Ingles. tia.

Couple things --

** The Jazz like Jae Crowder. They know is family since Corey Crowder was here. I think they believe in him and see him as a two-way stretch-4. He'll be a solid rotation player on a friendly contract. The Jazz have cap space to make moves going forward.

** I think the way Rubio has been adjusting to Quin's system and the players around him factored into the trade. If Donovan were going to be the PGOTF, then Rubio might have been moved. With Rubio playing like he has (nevermind the hot shooting), it makes sense to play Mitchell off the ball and trade Hood.

The Jazz won't be really disrupting chemistry with this move. Hood could never be relied upon and the Jazz went about their business with or without him.

Quin's offense is about spacing, ball movement and cutting. Hood is a bit more of an iso player. He's not actually a great fit for us. When we tried to run the offense through him, it didn't work, since he doesn't really adapt much to what the defense gives him. Hood wants to be Glen Rice, I think.

A jazz fan posted a tweet that suggested Rodney Hood was disgruntled at the lockeroom clean out. Tony Jones replied it had only gotten worse this season.

Anyone know what the beef was about?

Crowder is versatile and reliable. Great contract. Solid acquisition - just sucks that they couldn’t get a better pick back in the deal. Oh well. Time to move on. Curious to see if the Jazz fill the extra roster spot with a buyout player once they release DRose.

That's what I'm saying. I believe Mitchell should be our "1" and Favors is likely gone. It just feels like a bunch of clutter.

Huh?

Rubio/Mitchell/Ingles/Favors/Rudy
Neto/Royce/Crowder/Jerebko/Udoh

Crowder will rotate with Ingles and Favors. There's not that much clutter. We'll see how they play, and re-evaluate from there. The return of Exum will tell us a lot, and we'll get more time to see if Favors/Rudy can play together. If Crowder doesn't work, he's easily tradable. I don't see the problem or clutter here.

Remember when the Jazz traded for Glen Rice? That was epic!

Favors is not staying in Utah to be Rudy's backup. Forget about this! Even if he doesn't get a big contract he would rather go elsewhere for a 1 year prove it deal where he will actually have the opportunity to play his natural role, rather than spacing in the corner on offense.

Well he's been starting all year, so I don't know why he would stay to be a backup or why we would have him as a backup?

With that said, I doubt he returns.

I hope that Rodney and Joe Jesus are happy with their new circumstances. Both guys were solid players and very professional. It was becoming more and more clear that keeping Hood beyond this season wasn’t a good option. I’m curious to see what he gets on the market this offseason.

Jazz weren't going to pay $15m to backup Mitchell. Better to get someone they want and probably will fill a need than to see Hood go for nothing. Apparently, Hood and the FO had a mutual feeling it was over, so best to get it done. I can see that.

Because Quin obviously doesn't trust Rudy and Favors together and prefers the floor spaced. He's been taking one of them out in crunchtime for the last 3 years. He would rather play Booker, fat Boris or terrible Lyles than play Favors and Gobert together. Now he's doing the token start with Favors coming out of the game 2-3 minutes into the 1st Q and 3d Q. This is all for ego management IMO. I don't think either the Jazz or Favors will have much interest in continuing this long-term.

Favors isn't even worth a 2nd round pick apparently.

No, Favors is worth far more to the Jazz this season than some future 2nd round pick. Besides, we always have the option of facilitating a better landing spot for Favors through a sign-and-trade, which may land us something this summer.

Rubio/Exum/Neto
Mitchell/O'Neale/Burks
Ingles/Crowder/Sefalosha
Favors/Jerebko/Bradley
Gobert/Udoh

- With Exum being able to play 1 and 2, and Mitchell being able to play 1 and 2, and Rubio even being able to step out to the 2 when Neto checks in-- we have some excellent backcourt flexibility. No clue what we're gonna do with Alec Burks though
- Crowder is a great contract and great injury insurance, but I don't see how he's gonna play over 30 minutes a game. Ingles has morphed into a must-start player, and I'm not confident in Crowder being able to play tons of minutes at the PF position.
- I forgot about having Sefalosha on our roster-- I'd argue he's a pretty darn good defensive 2/3. I wonder how big of an upgrade Crowder will be at the 3/4 *I mean, he *did* average 16ppg last season)
- I would be so damn confident with this team if Favors started hitting one corner three a game. This is truly a team with a *high* potential bench. Some fantastic contracts for hard-nosed, two way players. I'd be super down to keep him on the team at a friendly contract-- otherwise, the elusive pursuit for a full-time PF to compliment Rudy will have to continue
