Hood traded to Cleveland for Crowder; Johnson to Sacramento

Until then, you should go back to explaining how Crowder is so much better than Ingles. tia.

Sure will!

These stats are for Ingles best year this year and Crowder's best year last year. I am hoping Crowder can get back to that. Inlges has been better than Crowder this year like I stated but I like Crowders potential to push Ingles for that SF spot next year if he can get back to Boston form or better.

Ingles vs Crowder

Age 30 vs 26 NBA players tend to decline at 30. Hopefully Ingles is the exception. Players are just entering their prime at 26. I think Crowder has room to grow and improve. Ingles has had the benefit of playing in a much better system this year.

Points 10.2 vs 13.9 Even per 100 or per 36 Crowder has outscrored Ingles. Some of this is due to Crowder shooting a little more but again that is a knock on Ingles, he passes up shots he should take. Although not during the last few games, so hopefully he keeps that up. Crowder can also score in more ways.

Rebounding 4.0 vs 5.8 Advanced rebounding stats also show Crowder is a better rebounder. I think he hustles all around more than Ingles. That is why he runs a lot more miles per game than Ingles. Ingles does try to body up his guy though. Crowder is just better.

3 point shooting 44.8% on 5.4 attempts vs 39.8% on 5.5 attempts. Ingles is a better shooter.

Inside scoring. Crowder is much better at scoring inside. His %s are better his attempts are way better. He gets to the FT line way more. Its not really close here. Crowder is a better scorer outside of jump shots.

Passing 4.1 vs 2.2 Ingles is a better passer. Ingles is a pass first guy unless he is open. Crowder is more of a scorer who is a willing passer but not nearly as good at it.

PER Ingles 13.2 vs Crowder 14.9 Crowder is better

TS% 62 vs 61 pretty close slight advantage for Ingles.

WS 3.8 vs 6.7 Huge advantage for Crowder

Vorp 1.7 vs 2.1

Offensive rating 113 vs 118 Crowder is better here. They are tied for the same defensive rating.

Defense is the big one for these two that I see both arguments. I think they are both good wing defenders and about the same. Ingles has been backed up in the post by Gobert and Crowder has had little to no post defense to rely on. Crowder is a better post defender and can defend the 4 a bit. Ingles gets abused there. Ingles had a great playoff series last year defensively which bumps him up a bit.

But Crowder also had a much bigger role than Ingles in the playoffs last year and really stepped up. Ingles stepped up defensively but that hurt him on offense where he shot much worse than usual and wasnt much of a factor on offense. Crowder shot the 3 better and 15 ppg in the playoffs. He was pretty big in the playoffs for Boston.

In conclusion they are both starter quality wings that are not all-star level or going to be all-star level. I think they are in similar tiers but I think Ingles role is better off the bench when he is allowed to do more with the ball and help create. They can play together well. I just think Crowder can push Ingles to start. He might not get the start over him but he could.

Again they are pretty similar tiered players and claiming Ingles is much better and its not close is a little silly. Just like saying the opposite would be.

A jazz fan posted a tweet that suggested Rodney Hood was disgruntled at the lockeroom clean out. Tony Jones replied it had only gotten worse this season.

Anyone know what the beef was about?

Maintenance had trouble stocking the bathroom stalls with enough T.P. to suit his needs....

According to Tony Jones, Hood was not going to come back to Utah. Things were apparently getting rough behind the scenes, and he wanted out. To his credit, he still did his job when asked to do so. I imagine the Jazz weren't always happy about Hood's ability to play through pain. But I think the real issue is that Hood is a starter in this league, but he's not on this team.

I get why the value doesn't seem that high, but if we had let him walk at the end of the year, how many people would be clamoring wishing we had just traded him for Crowder. We got an affordable player who can do a lot of things, that will hopefully be ok coming off the bench. If he's not ok with, he's an asset who can be traded easily.

I get not loving this deal, but I don't get thinking that it's awful. It isn't awful by any means. Some of you need to think a little before you react and post.
Of all of the players on the Jazz, Hood was the only one who had the potential to resent Mitchell's rising fame. I sometimes felt that Hood pressed too much on offense in trying to outshine DM. My memory isn't trustworthy, but I can't think of a single game where both Hood and DM shined.

Rubio/Exum/Neto
Mitchell/O'Neale/Burks
Ingles/Crowder/Sefalosha
Favors/Jerebko/Bradley
Gobert/Udoh

- With Exum being able to play 1 and 2, and Mitchell being able to play 1 and 2, and Rubio even being able to step out to the 2 when Neto checks in-- we have some excellent backcourt flexibility. No clue what we're gonna do with Alec Burks though
- Crowder is a great contract and great injury insurance, but I don't see how he's gonna play over 30 minutes a game. Ingles has morphed into a must-start player, and I'm not confident in Crowder being able to play tons of minutes at the PF position.
- I forgot about having Sefalosha on our roster-- I'd argue he's a pretty darn good defensive 2/3. I wonder how big of an upgrade Crowder will be at the 3/4 *I mean, he *did* average 16ppg last season)
- I would be so damn confident with this team if Favors started hitting one corner three a game. This is truly a team with a *high* potential bench. Some fantastic contracts for hard-nosed, two way players. I'd be super down to keep him on the team at a friendly contract-- otherwise, the elusive pursuit for a full-time PF to compliment Rudy will have to continue

I'll tell you what we're gonna do with Burks. We gonna sit his *** on the bench.

Which is too bad. He's a happy guy, seems like a good guy. Just isn't a player who fits this team.

Why did we include cash in this trade?

My hope is this won't be the case with Exum. Obviously, he and Mitchell can play together (and play together well) but I worry that Mitchell's meteoric rise will have Dante pressing to be viewed as a similar caliber player.

No it wont, its not how hes wired. The AIS system we have here is incredible and they develop team first guys. Dante just wants to play, he doesnt care about no shine.

Huh?

Rubio/Mitchell/Ingles/Favors/Rudy
Neto/Royce/Crowder/Jerebko/Udoh

Crowder will rotate with Ingles and Favors. There's not that much clutter. We'll see how they play, and re-evaluate from there. The return of Exum will tell us a lot, and we'll get more time to see if Favors/Rudy can play together. If Crowder doesn't work, he's easily tradable. I don't see the problem or clutter here.
I like this... but don't forget about Thabo.

Also, we traded:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but december offers a good simple size of who Rodney Hood is:
15 games. He missed the first 5 and played the last 10. Of the ones he played:
In 5 he shot 42-85 49%
In 5 he shot 19-65 29% (5-29 17% from 2)
2 free throws, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 turnover per game.

So, of all games available, Hood basically misses 33%, is hot in 33%, and is cold in 33%.
I wouldn't pay Hood as much as he expects to get, that's for sure.
