Jae Crowder BAMF thread

Yeah. Lets hope Quin can get him back to his previous form. That contract might be pretty nice if he does. It used to be considered one of the best contracts in the league.

He hasn't lost his form. He had a couple of rough months in a bad situation. He shot well in January I believe.

Always take the big sample if you have it. It's almost always more representative of ability than small isolated samples. i.e. take a month over a week, take a season over 1 month, etc. unless there is a legitimate reason to ignore the bigger sample(i.e. for example if he was playing injured for 2 of the 3 months, or he changed his mechanics between seasons or something).

-he was in a bad situation by all accounts earlier this season
-leading up to that point he had improved every single year

Obviously. But there are legitimate reasons to doubt the slump. All of the Cavs were playing terrible this year. IT just had his best game of the season on his debut with LAL. A sample size of 2 months on a new team, where he didn't seem to fit, is too limited to make conclusions from.

He's also a young player who works hard and improves every season. One would expect his numbers to improve from 3 years ago or whatever.

Looking at his entire body of work, one gets a different idea than what you're proposing. I don't think you would have even made the argument you're making if not for his first two months in Cleveland. So, like you said, sample size.

Also, wasnt he better at the 3 in Boston? I know he can play the 4, but he seems a lot more comfortable at the 3.

Jae's defensive talents were evident even this early. Everyone has to be in consensus we upgraded our D.
I think Jae can defend better than both Hood and Johnson combined. Have Jae guard 1 guy and Johnson/Hood together guard the same guy and I think the guy would rather face the 2 instead of Jae.
We definitely upgraded the defense.
After last night I love this trade more, we traded 2 ball stoppers and 2 defensive liabilities for a guy who moves the ball and is a beast on defense.

He took one 18 footer early in the shot clock (I think after an offensive rebound). It was strange for a Jazz player as we had a whole shot clock to look for something better, but he was pretty open. I'll let him shoot that. Maybe next year Quinn will reign in folks a bit and ask them to be more selective (Ahem Mitchell) but as for now I'm loving the freedom they have out there.
Yeah, I was being pretty nit picky. I'm definitely estatic about his performances in both games so far. Well not as much tonight as yesterday though he was solid tonight. Just in general everyone had a rough game for a while tonight.

The Jazz have two of the best glue guys in the league. Crowder is going to start next year one way or another.

I absolutely love the Jae Crowder acquisition. I think he will fit in brilliantly with the culture and he is going to add some toughness to the squad.

And I believe his three-point shooting will be closer to 40 percent than 35 percent, but that is just a hunch.

Obviously really happy with Jae right now. I liked how he could fit but worried he wouldn't want to be here or would not like coming off the bench. All seems good there for now.

The Millers, DL, and Quin don't get enough credit for the culture they've built here... The players are a big part of it. Hood was unhappy but you didn't hear much about it. Guys come in and flourish (small sample size with Jae). All FA should be watching what we do with guys like Royce, Ingles, etc. I know Stevens is known to get the best out of guys, but many of those were vets that had some level of success elsewhere. Brown/Tatum look great... I know... Just seems like Stevens is viewed as this super genius that gets 150% out of everyone... And Snyder is a good coach like Top-10 but not super genius Brad Stevens.

Crowder averaging career high in points in Utah at 14.5 PPG. Also 50% on threes (6/12).

Who says he can't shoot?

Mirotic had another good game. 21 and 12 iirc

I’d hate to lose Jerebko and Thabo for him. Give Burks and our first. By that point I think most will acknowledge we won’t have a top ten pick.

I'd much rather send Thabo and Jonas for him... I mean we can't play all these guys anyway.

Thabo is old and badly injured. Mirotic would take all of jerebkos minutes.
I would have no problem losing those two for niko

I’d do it too, but we’d still need a backup 4, unless people are thinking we’d re-sign Favors and get Mirotic. I’d find that quite unlikely.
