Following Potential 2018 Draftees

With our roster taking shape I have a hard time seeing where a rookie would play... I think we need to take a moonshot... I'm not saying Cabocolo type reach, but that we find the guy with the most upside.

We are drafting around 15-18 imo... Jontay Porter kinda intrigues me around there. Big, young, good shooter, good block rate.

considering how all these things get thrown back in our faces later on but here goes I like Hutchinson better than Evans
I honestly don't think it's close. Evans is a much better basketball player. Hutchison just has the wingspan hype. I love him too, I think he is a solid first round pick, but I dont know why anyone would have him over Evans (all around more skilled, better defender, higher IQ, much better shooter) or Okogie (basically the same player as Hutch, but 2.5 years younger, putting up same stats, and doing it in a harder conference).

What kind of ceiling do you think Evans has? Like what is a ceiling comp for you?

I have no doubt he will be a rotation player... does too much good stuff but not sure if his ceiling is starter, high level starter, all star.

@Saint Cy of JFC

If it makes you feel any better it turns out I'm not actually down on Walker at all, I just don't like the majority of guys between he/Shamet/Milton. Evans is a late lotto level guy imo, very very good prospect, reasonable upside as a high level starter, poor man's Butler.

I think he can definitely be a starter. I think he is a guy who could work himself into being a really good player. Cincinnati is just so good that he doesnt really have to put up crazy stats game to game. They are often blowing opponents out.

I dont really like giving players ceilings.

The biggest negative on Evans is that he doesnt really take the ball to the rim and finish/draw fouls at a high rate, but I think that is largely because of role and team strength (he doesnt have to try and stretch himself too far, just play within the team). They play two post players also that they use a lot.

Kewl... just wasn't sure if he is a moonshot type that could explode. Thought he might be viewed as more of a high level role player. I suppose there are lots of guys that exploded but were considered limited prospects.

I love guys that know the game, understand their role, and play within themselves but magnify how well they serve their role.

I like a lot of guys in the teens... have seen Evans projected more in the late first round. Super young junior. Not sure there is a big swing upside guy in the teens that I feel particularly hopeful about. I'm fairly indifferent on Walker, Evans, Musa, Brown, etc. but would be happy with any of them.

Evans is the same player this year as he was last year almost across the board

Yeah, and he was really good last year and really good this year.

He is the best player on a stacked 23-2 team. So many of the games he plays in are blowouts so he doesnt have to do much and he doesnt stat chase. He has score 12 points in the last two games because they have been blowouts.

Has Jerome Robinson been discussed at all? now 2/3 of the season, conference play in full swing, sample size starting even things out - Robinson as a 6'6" SG shooting/scoring numbers doesn't have many peers. 20 ppg on 64% TS. i'd take him in the early 2nd.
Jerome Robinson is the truth. this is a dude shooting 47% from three on the season, 50% from three in ACC play and he absolutely murdered Pitt tonight from inside the arc with 25 second half points.

I think the Jazz would still like a stretch shooting 4, preferably 4/5. Keeping Favors is still a 50/50 proposition at best, and with the draft before free agency, the Jazz might take that need into consideration to some extent. Keep an eye on Robert Williams and Issac Bonga during draft workouts to see if either of them can shoot. I'm meh on Jontay Porter, but I see why he'd get a look. I might like Tillie and maybe even Mo Wagner over him.

What'd he do now?
27 pts on 10-14, 5-8 from three. 6 rebs, 3 assists and 3 blocks. as good as that line is, it doesn't do him justice. its the way he does it. a guy with his size, length and athleticism hitting threes like he's larry bird just isn't fair. then the way he gets to the basket with his long strides and long arms blows you away. i wouldn't pick him first if the draft were tomorrow, but i saw a guy worthy of #1 tonight.
