Royce O'Neale Over Bolomboy

I like Neto as much as the next guy, but we have Rubio Mitchell and Exum coming back, and even with injuries there hasn't been a huge demand for minutes for Neto.

He has gotten consistent minutes since coming back from injury in mid-January. He has been ok for a backup. Now that X is coming back he will get less playing time but that doesn't negate the fact that we needed his contributions at some point during the last month

There hasn’t, but it wasn’t out of the realm of possibilities that he could have been much more needed than he has ended up being. Even if his only job was to hold a spot on the roster until Exum comes back, he’s done just fine at that.

As I stated before, he's not as far along as other players his age due to picking up the game so late in his life. IMO his shooting will only get better, just requires patience to let him develop.
That excuse is great when you are 20, not when you are 24 and have spent 4 years in college and a year play professionally.

This guy is the next Wesley Matthews, except we are not gonna see him playing for Portland next year thanks to the great wisdom of Dennis Lindsey

I respect your opinion more then most, but age has nothing to do with the amount of years you've been playing ball IMO. most 20 year olds have more basketball experience.

Bolomboy is an undersized center with okay to average athleticism who has one of the ugliest shots I've seen. He works hard and rebounds okay but gets lost on defense and isn't any help on offense.

He seems like a nice guy but he is not an NBA player.

Neto is an NBA player and has done very well as a serviceable backup pg. O'Neil has shown huge potential, he might become a solid starter.

Both of those guys deserved a roster spot over bolomboy and it's not even close.

At 24 years old, you need to go out and TAKE ADVANTAGE of your opportunities - O’Neale and Neto both have. Bolomboy might at some point, but I’m not counting on it.

Look, I get it. I would take Royce over Bolomboy knowing now what we know, but I have no hesitation taking Bolomboy over Neto, and it's not impossible to think that Bolomboy could end up being better then Royce

I looked it up, the guy started playing basketball in the 7th grade. He has over 10 years of basketball experience. Please shut up about this. You are acting like he picked up a ball for the first time in his senior year of HS.

How long has it taken Neto to get to this point. He's getting a few minutes only because of injury, and Exum is coming back in a months time, where will he be then? Bolomboy hasn't had much of a chance to take advantage of anything

Neto earned his playing time, bolomboy did not. Bolomboy never showed enough promise to earn more court time or a roster spot.

If he had done well enough he’d be given a chance. Nothing about his play this far has enticed anyone to say he should get a shot.

ROYce is a solid two way wing on a bargain deal. His position and play has led to him getting PT.

It’s pretty simple... Joel just ain’t good enough and likely never is.

There were quite a few guys here if I recall wanting to keep him due to what he showed in preseason. Even then what opportunity has he been given. Last year was his rookie year, when did he get an opportunity to prove himself?

Bolomboy upside is a poor man's Udoh.
Completely different player. Udoh is a great defender who’s weak on the glass. Bolomboy is an unknown defender who is elite on the glass. Offensive games very different, too. I’d take another shot on him if we lost Thabo or Jerebko.

For the record, I'm not trying to hate on any one player or management decision, just that my feelings about Bolomboy haven't changed.

Practice, end of games, preseason, and Summer League. He showed very little upside and didnt earn any more playing time or a contract.
