Avery Bradley in the off season?

I posted this in a different thread but it might be a decent idea. If he could be had for 15 mill to 20 mill a year he would make a great second option to Mitchell. A Mitchell Bradley back court would drive teams insane defensively.

I was thinking a contract in the realms of 3 years 50 mil.

The Jazz would have to find a way to dump Burks but not to make this happen. It sill doesn't solve the issues with the Jazz and the PF spot and they might have a bit of a log jam at the guard spot now

Mitchell, Exum, Rubio, Neto (If he is re-signed)
Bradley, O'Neale, Burks
Ingles, Crowder, Sefolosha
?????????? (Favors maybe, Jerebko free agent)
Gobert, Udoh, Bradley

Just 1 hole left to fill in my opinion. Yes it is a gaping hole

Hell, no. I would only ever want the guy if he was on the clearance shelf. DL is smart with the money. So I don't need to worry about this.

I honestly think Mitchell should play next to a ball handling guard ala Harden/Beverley or Harden/CP3.

Takes some pressure off of him, keeping him fresh and make him more lethal offensively.

Jazz don't have the cap space for that without renouncing Favors and Exum and declining the options of Sefolosha, Jerebko, and Udoh. You can't have any of those 5 players on the team and Avery Bradley.

I think I would take those five.

Why?
Avery is going to be overpaid for what he'd bring. He's a decent, but not great 3PT shooter. TBH, I prefer O'Neale at the 2 if/when Mitchell plays PG (or Dante). You're making Rubio 3rd string? Yep, you pay a guy $14M to play 10 mins every other night. Brilliant idea.

Priority has to be
1) PF. Whether it's Favors or a FA (or via trade), the Jazz have to find a 4.
2) Scorer. Jazz still struggle offensively at times. If there's any money left over after getting a PF, it should be spent on a 6th man who can shoot. Instant offense when Utah needs some buckets.

I think Avery commands $14M/yr but regardless, no.

We have 2 STARS on good/great contracts with our roles players also on good/great contracts. We have one of the best cap situations in the league.

We have no need for small moves. Everything has to be BIG moving forward.

The O'Neal move by DL is special. As you mentioned O'Neal can do the job of an Avery Bradley in our system while saving us +$10M/yr in cap space. That money and the money we save with DM being a rookie needs to be spent on a true MAX guy.

I would be shocked if he gets over the MLE

Won't be 2018.

Jazz ONLY have Gobert, Mitchell, Ingles, Crowder, O'neale, Bradley guaranteed for 2019-2020 for right around 50 million. Even with Rubio's cap hold, that's enough for one maximum deal dependent on Exum's status. If Favors and/or Exum equal 25 million, then Rubio would have to be renounced, but still there's enough for a 25% cap contract. There's enough flexibility to get a guy the Jazz want more likely just below the elite tier.

Id prefer next offseason tbh but theres always ways teams can create space if they need to.

Only way Jazz could get enough cap space for the FA signing period this offseason is to renounce good value contracts and/or attach their draft pick to offload Alec Burks' contract.

It's going to be via trade. Count on it.
Jazz have some cap space + almost $13M in non-guaranteed contracts. The rights to whoever Jazz draft and/or a lottery-protected 2019 pick could be in play. And as much as we might not like it, O'Neale is a very attractive young asset who could be a key inclusion in a trade.

Have to be willing to give up assets to get an all-star caliber play, just as OKC did for George or Boston for Irving. Not saying we get a superstar, but the next tier down would be nice.

And I could see Jazz giving up a future pick to a team like Dallas or Atlanta to take Burks if cap space is needed.

Guys, we're not spending money this summer... we're trying to make the playoffs the next two years, and then get someone in 2019 when half of our roster is coming off the books.
