Hood traded to Cleveland for Crowder; Johnson to Sacramento

Just for the record Crowder is shooting worse than Hood since the trade. But don't let facts get in the way of a good narrative and slamming of an ex-Jazz player. Carry on.

Jae Crowder - 37.8% FG%, 32.4 3pFG, 66.7% FT%... that consistency though...

How do they compare defensively though? Hood was our worst defender this year by a wide margin according to some links posted on the site iirc.

after all these moves you haven't agreed with, I'm surprised you're still a jazz fan, tbpfh

And Jae, while at the 4, can at least stretch the floor so he brings that dynamic here.

Though we had it with Jerebko too imho.

Well, it would be straight up embarrassing if he didn't play defense and had that offensive efficiency.

Did Hood ever have an 8 game stretch where he shot 38%/33%? Just curious. I mean, currently he’s shooting 43%/34% for 10.5 PPG.

He probably did. Multiple of them. But that's neither here nor there...

But if we’re arguing that Jae has shot poorly since the trade and Hood has shot better, I think it is here and there. The bottom line is that Hood could be on and give us wins. But that was very unpredictable and, if he wasn’t on, his contribution was nil. Despite Jae having bad efficiency, he’s been contributing. Imagine when he’s efficient.

I was responding specifically to people who were slamming Hood for his recent shooting form and at the same time celebrating Crowder for his consistency. I don't even expect much of Crowder this year. He's still learning the system and his teammates tendencies. I think this trade will be paying dividends starting next year after he's had a training camp with the team. I was just having a problem with the narrative that some are pushing here.

I think it’d be hard to make an argument that his efficiency has been consistent. But he’s consistently brought value to the floor. That’s kind of the problem, though. With Hood the only thing you could discuss regarding consistency was his shooting and scoring, because those were really the only two facets of his game worth mentioning. When you talk about consistency with Crowder, you’ve got a lot of other variables to work with than his efficiency and scoring production.

Sure, but you can say the same for Hood. He's been generally consistent in the way he plays and his inconsistency has largely been attributable to his shooting.

I mean... I'm not keeping close tabs on you.... but it seems like things haven't been going your way for a little while. The roster seems at least 1/3rd full of guys that you don't like on their current deals. Or guys that you think don't fit. Etc.

Even if everything you said is true, which it is not, why would that not make me a Jazz fan anymore?

The main thing I didn't like is the direction we chose after it become clear we are losing Hayward. This doesn't mean I don't like the players. I love Ingles and I liked all the FAs(Udoh, Sefolosha, Jerebko) in a vacuum. I just didn't love what signing them meant as a direction for the team.

The Rubio signing I don't like not only direction wise, but also as a fit with our franchise player and system. (this is the one I hated the most - but again I don't hate the player, Ricky can be hella fun as a playmaker and can be a very good PG for a team that is willing to use his best attributes and surround him with shooters and finishers, rather than make him give up the ball all the time in half court and space in the corner)

But Crowder can defend, play multiple positions, rebound, pass, get steals and blocks, hustle, avoid taking countless bad shots a game, and not stop the offense by going into isolation offense mode constantly. Unlike Rodney.

But don't you think it's clear that you'll always bristle at the decisions DL makes? I mean, I don't agree with DL 100% of the time... but I'm not losing sleep over it, either. You seem to have bloodshot eyes. Just saying.

You seem more like a Boston Celtics fan to me.
