Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Simons has been my guy for a while. I value off the dribble shooting a lot (probably overvalue it). He has a kind of strange low release, but it's really quick. He also has incredible balance, especially on coming around screens, pullups, and floaters, and we all know how much Lindsey loves his P R O P R I O C E P T I O N. I think if Snyder gets his hands on him, he'll be a decent defender since he has good feet, lateral quickness, and balance. He's got quick hands too. The natural ability is evident, he just has the typical young player mistakes like lapses of attention (keep him away from AB) and effort. Snyder and co can mold him into a good defender.

I'm not sure what his measurables are, but he's got that kind of Dejounte Murray body where there isn't even a euphemism for his body composition. I don't think you can even call him "wiry" or "strong for his size," he's just weak at this point. His frame isn't very wide either, so he struggles finishing through contact. You can see flashes of advanced finishing moves though, like those wrong-footed layups and a nice floater game. We saw how quickly Donovan figured out these moves, and Simons is farther ahead than Mitchell was at the same age at these things. But Mitchell is built like a linebacker and can finish through contact way better than Simons (though Mitchell kind of struggled with this in college and improved it rapidly). While Mitchell wasn't afraid of contact, Simons shies away and opts for floaters and fadeaways.

I'm just kind of rambling, but I think a backcourt with him and Mitchell (and Dante!) would be electric and, if nothing else, really entertaining. If we don't get Simons, I hope he becomes a good player because he looks like a guy that could just be a "good stats bad team" player, or worse, in a Malik Monk situation where some hardass coach doesn't play him. I'd be scared to pick this kid in the 12-16 range if I were a GM with millions of dollars and my job on the line, but since this opinion doesn't affect me, I'd gladly take him!

He's built like De'Aaron Fox.. A hair under 6'4" in shoes, so he'll be listed at 6'4".. about a 6'7" wingspan and he was about 180 lbs but he's got several months to strengthen up now that the seasons over.

Your hunch if gonna be right. This kid is gonna be good. I wouldn't be scared to pick him 12-16 with my job on the line tbh.

Made up my mind. I want Musa. 56.9% from 2, 36.4% from international 3, 6’8”, really good handle, imo a really good frame, he’s just 19 y/o, and given his foreign status, I’d like his ability to fit in. I also like his body language on the court. I don’t see any ego or red flags.

Just found this link someone posted about Musa. Updated info on him back in December.

I've seen Musa play more than a handful of games in that same timeframe and he's destroyed in every showing, completely dominates the game, i've never been unimpressed..

Vs competition his age his skill set is like lebron's tbh. Best case-scenario I could see him putting up a stat line something like 20-5-5...

Does the league in which Musa plays suck?

Sort of... The Chinese league is tougher for sure..

It's not a top-10 league...

Cibona(Saric's old club) has won 18 titles since 91 in that league and Musa's current team Cedevita has won the last 4, so it's really top-heavy and bottom-shallow... so there's plenty of opportunities to juice stats..

His knocks (other than comp I guess) are t-rex arms and his defense. But evidently, his work ethic is off the charts so with good coaching (and a good attitude), I see no reason he can't be a good defender. He'd be great learning for a half year and then getting burn on our second unit as one of, if not thee, main offensive options.

I'm not worried about his wingspan, it's not ideal but shouldn't be too much of a limiting factor. He will likely measure out slightly better than he has before.

He can play some SG as far as im concerned...

I honestly didn't hear much about his work ethic but i'm sure it's top notch because he's really done a remarkable job transforming his body in the last few years. He plays a very strong-willed version of basketball IMO, in sports where they name a captain - he's that guy... He's got true game, the questions are just how will it translate.

I still like Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk. He's underappreciated in these sorts of convo's, he profiles more as an efficient low usage rate player.

The FO might find Musa a bit redundant with Ingles..

I wonder how much Bradley is valued in this league and if it's enough to help us move up 3-4+ spots in the draft.

If he's truly grown an inch, they would be dumb to trade him..

Are there like rumors that he's good in practice or is it the opposite?

No idea about practice.

Why would it be dumb to trade him if he's only ever going to be a backup to Gobert? Backup 5's are easy to find imo. But if trading him helps us move up say three to five spots and land one of the Bridges or something, don't we have to do it?

It'd be dumb to trade him because they'd be cashing out too early.. give him 2 more years, then trade him -- the haul will be much greater.. He just turned 20..

I have actually always sworn by the strategy of taking another C and developing him to be traded years later, thats a legit "luxury pick" strategy... It's the best position to do that sort of thing with IMO.. Especially if he can block shots, cuz what he can do on offense with his touch and footwork.. He's got potential for a big-money skillset....

I don't see them trading Bradley, unless they can move up 10 spots or something. The Jazz did cash out too early on Lyles, as we saw. We got Mitchell so it's easily forgotten, but Lyles made a huge jump year 2 to 3.

We cashed out too early on Lyles? Lol. The kid still stinks on defense and he helped us move up to get Mitchell. I'd hardly say we cashed out too early.

Cy was a believer last year on him and I think he could be a steal in the second round

Okobo's good enough to be selected by the Jazz in the 2nd rd. He might be somewhere close to Devonte Graham (who i've hyped here since HS) in value.

He's got a deft touch with that left hand..

I know this is sacrilege but I kind of like how grayson Allen has been playing in the tournament. They have him playing PG a lot and he is doing well getting the ball where it needs to go. I wouldn't draft him until the mid to late 20s but you could do a lot worse in this draft.

Okay, I'm gonna bust out a major sleeper here.

Mike Daum from South Dakota State. He's a (to me it looks like long) 6'9" who was 14th in the nation in rebounding (10.3 per) and shot 42.5% from 3 on 6.5 attempts per game. He's shot over 40% from 3 all three years actually and according to DX has a vasty variety of ways of scoring. Looking at highlights (do you really think I saw this kid play?), he looks like he has decent foot speed too and could play the 4...probably not in small ball but we'd have Jae and others. He sucks on d but whatevs.

I saw him play in the NCAAs in Boise. He could benefit from another year in college or the DLeague. He would be the 1st NBA player from Kimball, Neb
