What's new

Remember the Alamo Dome - Jazz @ Spurs 3/23/2018 6:30 pm MST

KD was always a better player than Westbrook, as good as Westbrook is(4th best player in NBA over the last 5 years behind KD and Curry). Alpha isn't the guy who puts up the most shots or handles the ball the most. The best players are always the alpha's. That's why GS has four alpha's.

Of course Westbrook is an alpha. So is Donovan. And Harden. And a lot of other guys.

To be fair, most if not all elite athletes or anyone at the top of their field is an alpha.

But in the context of the NBA consider Draymond the big dawg on that squad. KD... please. What kind of "alpha" needs a fake twitter account? Dude is a sissy!

The Slim Reaper would face**** you.

He has had great moments in every game(only 4 so far, right?) but let's not act like he's nearly where he'll be later... definitely deer in the headlights at times in the fourth quarter.

Part of it was conditioning and part of it is just getting used to playing with these guys at this level after missing the whole season.
eh he didn't really have much opportunity in the fourth, ineffectual but it was a neutral stint. Overall the first game i've not been cringing inside watching him. Very excited for his future. I think he's the type of guy who will only get a little bit better, or if he does really get it and develop will be a terrific player.

I hope so. I hope the TEAM gets it.

So your shitck is to come here and bash Mitchell? Bold strategy.

No excuse - they got offensive boards and Patty Mills / LMA hit tough shots all night long - especially in clutch situations. It happens.

How about three clutch 3’s and three steals in the last 5 minutes of the game to force overtime? Jazzfanz is ****ing dumb. No wonder Hayward wanted out. Thankfully, most fans realize that Donovan and Rudy are both far more good than bad and will lead this team to the playoffs - against all odds against them.
Really, one guy here who has like 10 posts equates to "everyone here is stupid and no wonder why Hayward wanted out"?

Don’t be stupid. There were plenty of Jazz fans that were ****** towards Hayward over the years. Just like there’s been plenty of fans ****** towards Hood, Favors and now Exum. I think it’s perfectly fine to dislike a player or point out his flaws without being a douche about it. Hopefully, Donovan and Rudy feel the love and never stop enjoying their time in Utah.

Ya but i mean thats just fans. On every team. every player hears this stuff. Tons of trey burke hate. tons of kanter hate. Tons of burks hate. Plus the players you mentioned. ingles had plenty of hate prior to this year. george hill hate for his injuries. Quin snyder hate. DL hate. Gobert hate. spida shot selection hate.
Pretty sure every player gets hate from fans. on every team. I mean Lebron gets tons of hate and he is one the greatest players of all time.

If only speed and size would be all it takes to be a good basketball player.

Burks has got to go!

As for the alpha discussion.... Imo alpha is basically a first option player that can, and wants to, take over a game. With a few exceptions. (players like ben wallace. rudy gobert.)

Man, someone seems to have hacked Ellis' account and is posting stupid things. :(

SI has Durant at #2, Curry at #3, Green at #10 in the league, overall. Definitely alpha's.

Klay Thompson is ranked #20 in the league, overall. I'd say he's an alpha because of his defense and his ability to take a game over with his shooting.

" Should the Warriors need him to shoot, Thompson (22.3 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 2.1 APG) is ever willing to let loose. If the offense is finding fertile ground elsewhere (or even if his own shot has deserted him), Thompson will defend and curl just as hard, content to have indirectly done his part. Thompson’s game scales up and down effortlessly—from minute to minute and from game to game—so that his team can always draw exactly what it needs from him.

The rarity of that separates Thompson from most every other player in his class. No team should make Thompson its primary scoring option because he doesn’t have the ball skills to support that responsibility. Virtually any other role is fair game. Golden State won the title with Thompson as its second-leading scorer in 2015 and as a hot-and-cold streak shooter in 2017. He makes himself instrumental, regardless, because Thompson demands to be guarded even while at a standstill. His shooting can blow a game open without the slightest warning.

Those incendiary highs are a remarkable thing. It is not a stretch to say that Thompson’s hot hand laid out a return path to the 2016 Finals through scorched earth. It’s also not wrong to credit him, in some way, for Stephen Curry finding the perfect role. It’s because of Thompson’s ability to guard across three positions that Curry never really had to sweat his matchup. The toughest defensive assignments would always be accounted for. It’s also in part because of Thompson’s gravity that opposing defenses faced an impossible dilemma. Curry would have found his own way, but—as with the Warriors as a whole—it was Thompson who exaggerated his best attributes and mitigated his worst."

So in regards to GS? You agree with old mate they have 4 alphas?
IDK about Klay. Durant and steph? Definitely. They are league mvp caliber players.

I didn't watch this game. And I love Mitchell and think the guy is a stud in the making.

But the box score was troubling. 35 points on 36 shots for Mitchell. That's a problem.
68 points on 35 shots for the rest of the starting lineup that is outstanding.
Without seeing the game it appears that Mitchell was a major reason the Jazz lost.

The other troubling stat in this game appeared to be the dominance on the boards by the Spurs.

Can you name me this mythical market where this doesn't exist? It's the part and parcel of pro sports.

Like the idea that "Jazz fans were so mean to Hayward he went to Boston, home of fans who are never mean to their players" is just comical.

You’re right. It happens everywhere.

You hope it doesn’t impact the players, but they’re human and sometimes it does. I don’t think that negative fans were an important factor in Hayward’s decision, but I do think that the response by fans when he left made him and his family feel justified in his choice.

I shouldn’t let the trolls get to me. Sorry I took it personal and then returned the favor.
