What's new

5 year old shoots and kills 7 year old brother at home by accident... In USA of course.

How does it protect your family from intruder then? Lets say somebody breaks in your house when you are not at home.... your wife will be calling you to ask the safe combination to unlock it and then ask how to load the magazine? By that time it's too late.

Thats beside the point, the 2nd amendment was never designed to protect people from intruders. It is there so people can protect themselves from a tyrannical government.

Dont ever give up your guns America.

"The shooting marks the 150th time a child has been injured or killed by gun violence in 2018"

Well done USA. Keep leading all world in gun related children death/accidents by insurmountable margin.
And gun lovers, please do not tell me this will never happen to you because you practice better gun safety. The only real gun safety is - zero guns at home.

As insensitive as this may sound in 2018.. When I was growing up, we called this natural selection.

She needs more practice with a gun before she's ready for that.

I have a pistol near my bed in a secure case with a touchpad lock. Easy access for me, not for anybody else.

ah, so when intrusion happens and you are in the kitchen cooking eggs and bacon you will kindly ask intruder to wait until you get to the bed for your gun.

You are more likely to be shot by a cop in America than an intruder.

But guns dont kill people. Clearly, the 5 yr old and the parents need to be executed or spend the rest of their lives in prison.

I would NEVER, EVER have a hand gun in the house with children. I dont hunt, but id make an exception for rifles in a locked safe, only taken out for hunting. But too many rednecks love to play with their substitute ***** for even that to be safe. I have an ex father-in-law who loves to show off his fake manhood whenever he can. And i wouldnt trust all to be unloaded.

Someone can post the lives saved/lost by those carrying or having guns in their homes vs. lives lost to accidents and even questionable stand your ground cases.

From these accidents between children, to kids stealing guns from parents to use, to crimes of passion and heat of the moment suicides.

Ill be honest..i wouldnt be alive today had I had access to a gun as a teenager. Dont tell me I would have just found another way to kill myself. I didnt. And if i ever have young children, i seriously doubt I would ever have a gun in my house.

I accept the risk of one of my kids accessing a gun the same I accept the risks of my children getting killed in a car accident or accidentally getting into household cleaning chemicals or falling off the bed or down the stairs or getting abducted while walking home from school.

There about 500 gun accidents like this per year, and most are from stupid adults. There are about 100,000 from three of the last four per year.

Anti-gun ****wads are about as sane as the people who demanded billions in extra spending because one airplane skid 3 feet past the end of the runway. "OMG it's an airplane it's scary amiright?".

**** man, that dudes getting hot bacon grease tossed on him!

You can come up with as many hypotheticals as you'd like, it doesn't change my initial argument. Gun safety, when done properly, works.

Really not worried about an intruder. That's not why I have guns.

No guns = Nobody gets shot. Prevented

There will still be guns. LEOs, private security and some gov. employees will still have them. Not to mention the illegal trade. If guns are banned the gun traffic that comes north from the southern border would be massive. There will never be a scenario where there are no guns in the US.

Edit: That doesn't even mention home made firearms and 3D printing...

Ok, how about less guns= less shootings? Would that be not a welcomed thing?

But that is not what I was replying to. I am pointing the unattainability of no guns. Yes less shooting is a good thing, clearly. But to me the main problem is American society. Guns are just the most effective tool for that problem to express itself.

Yeah but you have a fighting chance with a knife or a bat or iron bar, I've been attacked with an iron bar and a bat in the last month, wasn't even scratched, if the same arseholes had the sort of access Americans have to guns, I'd be doing a different job.

Not all gun shots are lethal. People get shot and walk away from it all the time. But what's the point of your post when I already said "Guns are just the most effective tool..."?
