What's new

Western conference semi-finals: Game 1 — Jazz @ Rockets 4/29/18 1:30 pm MST

Of course, the Jazz could have, y'know, not blown a 25-point lead in game 5 and then they would've had the same prep time as Houston.

“If you want to believe that _______ have been uniquely disadvantaged, over the course of the ________, is there a reason I should care enough to go through years of _______ to find another case when ________ in order to change your minds? You both would just pick out some other reason ______ were uniquely disadvantaged anyhow.”

Fascinating template.
Lol

You have provided zero proof of another team that had less than 40 hours from one series to another while also traveling. Zero proof.

Had Cleveland won game 6 on Friday, they would have had less than 40 hours between series. That's two possible occurrences within a single playoff year, and there would have been more if more playoff series were extended.

You insulted me often enough that I decided to check 2017. On Friday evening, 2017-APR-28, both the Wizards (playing at Atlanta) and Celtics (playing at Chicago) won game 6 and finished their series Friday night. Less than 40 hours later, both teams played other in the early game on Sunday (in Boston, so a time zone jump east for the Celtics), both of them while traveling. So it happened twice just last year.

"Show me another situation where there was that quick of a turnaround for a traveling team."

Done.

"I will wait"

Your wait is over.

True.
Lots of stuff could have happened.
The nba could have also rightly suspended westbrook and we win game 5.
What actually happened was the jazz lost game 5 and then got screwed by the schedule for game 1.

It would seem the jazz turnaround was shorter than those scenarios as well. Really good try. You almost had it.

So close, so close. And how did I insult anybody?

Even if the NBA did this before, it doesnt make it right. That was the entire point.

We are dealing with humans, after all. Are you saying that I'm wrong about the schedule, or are you criticizing my assumptions about the posters?
I’m saying that you’ve been arguing opposite this template so long and so hard that it’s been imbedded so deep into your unconscious that you’re now employing the argument yourself.

Possibly. I will consider that. Thank you.

See, I can't tell which of you are being sarcastic or are trolling. The other alternative seems to be that you are saying something staggering stupid and showing an inability in basic arithmetic, and I'm sure that is not true.

And how did I insult anybody?

By saying that I was not able to back up my claim.

There is no pedal as good as a back-pedal.

Says the guy who has provided zero proof of a series that started less than 40 hours after another series.

Sorry of that common sense observation insulted you. Maybe a therapy animal could help.

Atlanta had 41 hours in 2015, including traveling home from NYC, seemingly, while Portland had an exact copy of our schedule in 2016 (won at home to LAC April 29 1030pm, lost on the road to GSW May 1 330pm), but no time zone loss.

It was a schedule loss but they also played well so we would have lost anyway.

Nba cares about spreading the games out for revenue purposes above all else. Had we stepped on OKCs throat in game 5 it’s a non issue

I see fishonjazz took the hint.

I just provided two examples of series in 2017 that started less than 40 hours after a different series (post #561), one of which involved a one-step east time zone jump. So, for you to make that comment, you must be trolling or engaging in sarcasm, you can't possibly be that stupid.

I took the hint that my original point is still holding true.
The jazz got screwed harder than all other nba teams. No one has posted a scenario where a team got less rest than the jazz yet. Some have been close, but ultimately the jazz were screwed by the scheduling more than everyone else.

Well, I guess you *are* trolling, since I don't think you are a complete moron. Still, let's put this troll-bait to bed.

The 37 hours for the Jazz this weekend is based on them finishing their media obligations at 2:30 am EDT Saturday morning (4 hours after their game start time of 10:30 pm Friday, and then starting a game at 3:30 pm EDT Sunday afternoon, between which they also traveled one time zone east).

In 2017 (the first year I looked at), the Boston Celtics started a game at 8pm EDT Friday April 28 and finished their media obligations at 12:00 AM April 29, then traveled one time zone east to play a game at 1pm EDT on April 30, which was 37 hours later. Exactly like the Jazz this year.

So no, the Jazz were not screwed more by the schedule than anyone else. I do believe 37 hours is the minimum, so you could say no one has been screwed worse. But many teams have been screwed the same amount.
