Would you do this draft day trade?

Would you trade #3 and 12 for Wiz #6 and 1st next year?

#3 and #12 to Washington for their #6 and their 1st rounder next year (unconditionally)

Kanter seems nice. So do some of the possibilities at #12.

But in my opinion, we could still get Knight or Biyombo at #6 and Washington will suck again next year, thus giving us the potential for three lotto picks in what should be a stacked draft.

Is it risky? Sure. But to get a guy at #6 who we'd almost take at #6 anyway and essentially just lose #12 for this could be huge in what could and should be a stacked draft.

I voted yes by the way. I'm not sure the Wiz would do it but they may love Kanter or Williams at #3 and may think Burks or someone else they could like a lot may be there at #12 and be premature in trying to infuse talent.

By the way, some VERY good SF's in next years lottery with Harrison Barnes, Quincy Miller, Michael Gilchrist, Adonis Thomas, etc (with all of those currently projecting from 2 - 12.

This was my thinking. Get a Garnett/Perkins frontcourt by putting Biyombo next to Favors now (we could use that fire and leadership too) and get our 1-3's next year in a draft when there may be plenty.

Since it's draft day, who has gone at picks 1 and 2? If Williams is available I don't do the trade.

Even if not, I'd still be a little hesitant. If the Wiz get the 3 and 12 there's no guarantee they'll be awful. It could end being a 3 and a 12 for a 6 and a 10 or worse.

I don't think I'd do it. You're hoping for a lot of things to happen if you do the trade. There's talk that the new CBA could change the age requirement for declaring, plus who knows if the stud freshman, or even the sophmores, will declare next year. Could be an epic draft, but could also be as weak as this one.

Not inconceivable, but no way we get an unconditional first. I think the best KOC could do would be Top 3 protected. But if KOC loves Biyombo (or just the range of guys at 6), it does make sense to at least try squeezing Washington who supposedly loves Kanter. Wizards also have the 18 and an early second. A highly protected first plus one of those draft picks could also work if KOC really likes anybody in the back end of the draft.

What's everybody hearing about the CBA as it relates to WHEN the new age limit would take effect, if it's changed? I heard it was unlikely to impact next years crop, but would the year after ... but it's been a while and I don't recall the source.

Interesting idea.

However how do you sell that to the fans and more importantly season ticket holders? "We know we are going to suck next year anyway so we are loading up for next years draft but come out and support us anyway?"

Yep, tough call. However, I think KOC has to do what he thinks is best for the team and the fans will find a way to support .. they always do.
