Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Seems like the right thread and think it should be mentioned. This (http://www.nbadraft.net/2018mock_draft) and many mock drafts have freshmen as 10 of the top 12 being selected.

When "one and done" is over, drafting is going to be so hard. Kids coming straight from high school will have such a high risk/reward ratio. NBA execs have such an easier job right now than they will soon. Crazy....

I like almost all of the guys on Cy's list. KBD could be ideal fit/talent wise. Huerter really tore the combine up.

Simmons is the one I'm wary of, but if the team loved him in workouts I couldn't really argue with it.

Pretty much agree (though it's easy to get intrigued by so many this year). Right now in I'm on Huerter. Combine that shooting with BBIQ that seems tailor-made for the Jazz system ... if the defense is as adequate as advertised, he could be a great complement for our current guards.

Still could go top 20. He plays bigger than those measurements and will be viewed as a SG.

LOL whats ur rationale behind this?

I think he’s Jimmer 2.0 with worse hair. No one with hair like that has ever succeeded at life.

He looked less than mediocre at the end of the year and he can’t guard a single position in the NBA. And then there’s that hair.

He won’t be Steph.
Steph is at a point where you can't ever predict any young player will be Steph. He's too good. I see Young more as a Nash type anyway. His greatest strength is his facilitating, passing, vision. The shooting/scoring is secondary.

It was hyperbolic. There’s a “bit” going on here.

How atrocious is Young on defense?
Bad, but I'm not convinced he's as bad as what he showed at OU. He actually stays in front pretty well and his bball iq shows on defense as well- pretty good at playing the passing lanes. He couldn't afford to pick up fouls so always had to be cautious on that end and had to save his energy for his load on offense. His teammates were actually somewhat useful on defense.

About what part? I'm not claiming Utah can get a star for #21. I think the starters are set with Rubio, Mitchell, Gobert, Ingles and Favs or Crowder. So the need is to find scoring off the bench. Are their vets that may be available for the #21 and other minor assets? Perhaps for teams wanting to rebuild or cut costs?

Mirotic has been tossed around as a possibility if NO decides to re-sign Cousins. I don't think that's a trade that NO has to make, though. There are other ways for them to trim payroll if needed.

Is a trade likely? Probably not. I think better options might be available at the deadline next Feb, with the expiring contracts of Burks and others, and if Utah has some better young prospects like this year's pick and hopefully a developing Bradley. I just brought up the possibility that anything is possible, especially on a team that, IMO, could use a more established, reliable scorer off the bench.
Dennis Lindsey is a draft god. Dont take picks away from him.
