Following Potential 2018 Draftees

I think there is going to be a good player at 21 for the Jazz. I am already getting nervous that some team is going to pick someone I like.

If Mitchell isn’t going to become a point guard, which I don’t think he is, then it makes little sense to me to draft a 1st round shooting guard.

I want future starter material which means at the 3 or the 4.

Assuming we reup Rubio which I imagine we do this summer or next.

You can play more than 1 shooting guard. Okogie can play the 3 too. He has a tall reach for a guy his height.

So reach for a 3-4 to fit need instead of taking BPA?

Late in the first round a lot of BPA becomes in the eye of the beholder. It is to tough to say who is better then the others. Besides you always look to upgrade at the depth in the late first.

Rubio is solid and even potentially great but is he the future? Exum is solid and has a ton of potential but he is a RFA and if a team offered him a killer contract the Jazz would probably let him go. Neto is OK and a FA but could always look to improve there to (Jevon Carter)

Mitchell is the future and 1 of 2 players that can't be replaced. I expect Burks to be moved. O'Neale is solid but you can always look to upgrade

Ingles should be a Jazz man his whole career and hopefully after, but he is replaceable in the starting line up as he ages. Crowder is solid but streaky and could be looked to be replaced in the future but his flexibility to play multiple
positions helps the Jazz. Sefelosha (IMO) needs to be replaces because coming back from a major knee injury at his age is hard and not worth the gamble as he is replaceable in either the draft or free agency.

Favors is a free agent and there are still questions marks about his long term fit on this team and against smaller line ups. Jerebko is a solid bench player but is he better then a 3rd option at PF.

Gobert is the other player that irreplaceable. Udoh is a decent back up but limited offensively. Bradley seems to be being groomed to be the back up but again you can't pass on improving here.

So the only spots that would be hard to replace are starting PG, SG and C. Every thing else can be replace or improved upon.

Take BPA... DM can play pg but may not want him there FT. Can’t be so rigid about positions.

Scenario... The Jazz are sitting on the clock at 21. Atlanta calls and offers 30 and 33, or Philly calls and offers 26 and either 38 or 39. Do you take one of those deals for 21? I think I might. It looks like there is good depth in this class.
depends entirely on who is available at 21 and then what the numbers say who could be available at 30 and 33 or 26 and 38. Good chance you get your guy/just as good a player at 26 as 21.

No. But. Man, I don’t know. Whoever it is has to be able to legitimately play some 3 or 1 then imo. That’s all.
I swear you are the same person who said they wanted to draft Musa, who might be the most one position 2-guard in the whole draft. And you're worried about a guy with a 7' wingspan and a 8'6 standing reach w/ a 42'' vertical who weighs 211 pounds and isnt even 20 yet only being able to play the 2?

Just watched an Evans interview. The Jazz will like that part of him for sure, and his background (military kid, structured, understated).

So much “this”.

I’m not sure I understand the Hutchison “promise”. Is he shutting down individual workouts as well?

I heard people raving about how Lonnie Walker interviewed with journalists at the combine, too..

Lol. He talked about how much he liked watching Animal Planet and Discovery Channel. Has a Jaylen Brown personality type where he wants to showoff his other interest and present himself as well-rounded person. Had some kind of cringey moments in his ESPN interview, but he seemed like a cool guy.

I don't know I missed those interviews, so I'm just relaying what I read on twitter. They compared him to how Mitchell was handling himself at the same stage. Jaylen Brown is pretty impressive too. Smart kid, seems to work hard to improve his game, too...
