Following Potential 2018 Draftees

People will pretend they didn’t sleep on Allen in a couple of years....

See any mid range game to him? I'm honestly asking I haven't see any. Just threes and finishes at the rim is a red flag to me. I like seeing guys go into the lane and mix it up, switch hands, have an arsenal of moves.

Grayson Allen is one of those guys who could be a steal in the "Tony Bradley or Kuzma range" of the late 20's. At #21, some might say it was a good spot but most would question it. On top of that, there would be added pressure if he got drafted too early. My only question on Allen is the quality of his mental strength. He seems like the kind of kid who shines when not expected to instead of shining when needed to.

I'm all for taking him late 1st early 2nd. I would applaud that move.

? The guy trips some people when he gets frustrated in the game. He does some dirty **** and loses his cool. He isnt soft or scared of the moment.

A red flag for what? Grayson is a role player, not a star, at the next level. You want his shot selection to be 3's and at the rim.

Listened to Ode to Oden podcast... those guys are pretty good and certainly don't fall in line with the main stream mock drafts.

Okogie seems like a super talented guy who has low BBIQ... as they talked about his defensive mental lapses I just kept hearing "Alec Burks"

The comped Heurter to Wayne Ellington with a little more ballhandling passing... seems pretty fair.

Based on what they say I want no part of Shake Milton.

One of them loves Shamet... he could be a good value.

The main thing I took away is I'd rather have Jacob Evans than any of these guys. I get it he isn't the super sexy knock down shooter or the guy that has a crazy long wingspan... he's really good at a lot of things and BBIQ may be good enough to warrant immediate playing time. He's athletic enough, big enough, and skilled enough to be a good nba wing and the BBIQ seals it for me.

According to this mock draft from Jeremy Woo, the Jazz are the team that has promised to Huerter:

JAZZ: KEVIN HUERTER, SG, MARYLAND | SO.

Height: 6'7" | Weight: 195 | Age: 19 | Last: 18
Stats: 14.8 PPG, 3.4 APG, 41.7% 3FG

As we reported last week, the belief around the league is that Huerter obtained the first-round promise he was seeking at the combine before opting to remain in the draft. Based on our conversations with teams, signs point to Utah having offered the guarantee. It remains highly possible Huerter is drafted among the first 20 picks, but this spot appears to be his floor. He put on an outstanding display at the combine to solidify his draft stock, making quick decisions, slick passes and open threes while playing with an injured finger in his shooting hand before shutting it down on day two. His size, shooting stroke and ability to make difficult shots off the catch and dribble are high-level traits for a two-guard, and have earned him first-round security.

I don't buy it, especially considering how things went with his workout, but oh well... it's out there, so I decided to post it here.

Yeah, I doubt they did, but I guess it's possible. I don't know how anyone would actually know if a promise happened and how they would know who made it.

The Jazz promising someone at the combine? No way we’re that premature.

If the draft fell this way I really hope we take Okobo. I think he has high upside and can't see him completely flaming out... at very least could be a spark plug backup combo guard off the bench. I want him like a fat kid wants cake.

So Tony jones is refuting the report pretty hard... I don’t believe everything he says but I believe this.

Isn’t the midrange shot the worst shot you can take. Isn’t threes and layups the type of shots teams hunt for? Allen isn’t the type of player you want taking 15-20 ft j’s Allen is the guy you want running defenders into screens, catch and shoot. I don’t see him as being a big usage player that will have much need to take midrange shots. Like Cy said, he’s a role player. If used any other way he probably will be a wasted pick, or do you expect the jazz to find another star?

It’s nice if a guy can score at all three levels but mid range is by far the least important... if we want mid range scoring we just get Ricky more shots.

Plus, I don’t buy that he doesn’t or can’t utilize the the midrange game.

Because the college court is so congested it’s kinda hard to get good looks in the midrange imo... nice if guys have a floater game...

I just think there will be 10 players I’d rather have where we are picking. Allen will be available later. I don’t think he goes first round.
