Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Did you just? Did you? You put Stockton’s name in post about GA.... I’m super sad rn.

If by edge you mean he gets overly emotional then yes... you do know that Dray could be Dray without going over the top complaining and screaming... honestly that edge is his biggest flaw. Boogie plays with “edge” too.

Donte>>>>Grayson

Stockton is considered one of the dirtier nba players in the history of the game.

You want a guy with “edge” how about getting the guy with a championship “edge” who performed best when the lights were brightest...

Oh I forgot we want the guy who screams, trips, and gets emotional but poops his pants when it’s winning time. Look at his last two tournament games... he’s the most experienced guy on the court and he choked... hard.

If you want guys with screaming edge bring back Boozer he used to yell and fist pump all the time.... that **** is fake “edge”.

Ok

I’ve been studying this all day and I’m about 94% certain I have DL’s drafting strategies and patterns figured out and am pretty confident I know who we’re taking:

Donte.

In 2013, Dennis took Trey Burke. Two years later, he took Trey Lyles. In 2014, he took Dante Exum. Two years (of game play) later, and he’ll take Donte D.

Keeping with the pattern, next year we’ll draft Tony Jones, if he declares.

surely you have a dizzying intellect

This years Terrance Ferguson. An NBA player.... in theory, but only theory. All that he has to do is improve everything, develop a single NBA skill, show a game that he doesn't yet have, and then he might be good enough to be a role player... maybe.
This is not really the case. THey are like... the complete opposite players. Terrance Ferguson was all athleticism, skinny body, no skill guy. Brown has the NBA body, all the skill, basketball IQ in the world, but has very mediocre athleticism. I have no idea how you came to that comparison.

Anyone remember Darius Miles? I remember how hyped he was. Never saw anything to get excited about.

Eww. I thought you might say something like Rashad Vaughn...
I cannot see Rashad Vaughn at all. I still maintain he is somewhere on the spectrum from Kyle Anderson to Joe Ingles (maybe extending a bit past Joe Ingles because he's not as passive offensively as Ingles)... depending on how good his shot becomes. The key attributes for him are - basketball IQ, advanced skill level for his size, good size... bad athleticism and (for now) not great shooting. Neither Vaughn, nor Dinwiddie fit most of that...

That year had soooo many busts, just an overall terrible draft.... DerMarr Johnson, Jerome Moiso.... Michael Redd was one of thye top players in that draft and he was mid 2nd rd.

Miles cliperss squads werent any good but their all headband team made a fashion statement that still reverberates thru the league today.

Ferguson- Wasn't a shooter, wasn't a scorer, wasn't a defender, wasn't a playmaker, didn't have a single NBA level skill or a defined NBA role. He was a total projection.

Brown- Isn't a shooter, isn't a scorer, was average at best defensively at the college, his supposed playmaking ability didn't lead to production on the college level (3.2 ast/2.5 to), he doesn't have a single NBA level skill or a defined NBA role. He is a total projection.

I'm completely sold on Kevin Huerter. The Jazz definitely need more shooting and Huerter honestly looks like Klay Thompson lite. I'm not overly confident that he'll still be there at 21, I could see either the Spurs or T-Wolves taking him.

Brown is a skilled wing with size. I don't know if you realize how hard it is to average 3.2 assists as a freshman wing in college. It practically never happens. This is pretty good playmaking. I had to go back to Harden to find someone do it and Harden did it in more minutes. I have no idea how you can watch Brown and say he doesn't have a single NBA level skill or that he isn't a playmaker. This is preposterous to me. The skill is not his problem. His problem is that he hasn't shot well and he isn't an athlete. This is where he will fail if he fails... he won't be able to make opponents guard him on the perimeter and won't have the athleticism to punish them for not guarding him(like Simmons is doing it)... both of those can inhibit his playmaking too. I'm not the biggest Troy Brown fan around here and I've pushed back against some of the love he's getting, but lets be fair in our criticism and evaluation of his strengths. You can dislike him and do it for the right reasons. You don't need to trash him for things he's actually good at.

Little over the top, don’t you think?

Lol

And its the NBA draft my guy, the entire thing is projection. There aren't 4 year elites like Duncan walking on that stage anymore.

And also, none of that stuff happened this year. Give the guy credit for maturing and move on.

And performances in the tournament mean little to me. Again, Trey Burke was amazing in the tournament and in the championship game. It doesn't really mean much.
