Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Man, I love the passion you guys bring. At the end of the day, we are going to make a trade. Its what DL does. And this year, it just makes sense.

I think we are going to try to get up in the lottery again by taking an unfavorable contract and sending out expirings. So many talk about 2019 cap space, but there have been so many signs that say we are keeping both Exum and Rubio for the long haul. We might even keep Favors too.

We aren't a free agent destination for a max guy. Mitchell will make us attractive, but Klay, Kawhi, KD, or a superstar ain't coming. We need to groom one more. There really isn't a certain current player to trade after like we did with Rubio and Hill. With the horrendous 2016 contracts still out there, I think we could trade expirings and picks to get up to get a Bridges, Porter, Carter, Walker, etc.

We need one more difference maker, and I think DL goes after him in the draft. I don't know who that is; I can let you guys debate that.

And also, none of that stuff happened this year. Give the guy credit for maturing and move on.

And performances in the tournament mean little to me. Again, Trey Burke was amazing in the tournament and in the championship game. It doesn't really mean much.

I mean he should mature... he’s a couple years older than ingles.

Thatb

Former Donovan Mitchell HS teammate and stretch 4. His listed playing weight was 250 lbs this year, but he looks way skinnier in the shooting video. In a Wizards workout video he says he has dropped 25 lbs.

Hmmmm...7’1” wingspan. I’m curious what his standing reach is. Can’t find it anywhere. Great FT% and very good 3 point numbers.

I’m sold.

Little over the top, don’t you think?

Not really... I was posting with the nebulous “edge” that Grayson plays with.

BS antics on court do not equal edge.

That year had soooo many busts, just an overall terrible draft.... DerMarr Johnson, Jerome Moiso.... Michael Redd was one of thye top players in that draft and he was mid 2nd rd.

Miles cliperss squads werent any good but their all headband team made a fashion statement that still reverberates thru the league today.
No. Clifford Robinson pioneered the headband and by the late 90s, it was incentivized in every Portland contract to wear a headband.

Cliff would be so good in the nba today... we need the modern day Cliff to play PF for us.

You want a guy with “edge” how about getting the guy with a championship “edge” who performed best when the lights were brightest...

Oh I forgot we want the guy who screams, trips, and gets emotional but poops his pants when it’s winning time. Look at his last two tournament games... he’s the most experienced guy on the court and he choked... hard.

If you want guys with screaming edge bring back Boozer he used to yell and fist pump all the time.... that **** is fake “edge”.

Look at his game against Wisconsin as a freshman. Seemed to do alright there.

He's had his ups and downs mentally, but it seems like he's improving/maturing. He was under a far bigger spotlight than most players, and he was the token hated kid at Duke. He won't have that in the NBA. Context does matter.

Ferguson- Wasn't a shooter, wasn't a scorer, wasn't a defender, wasn't a playmaker, didn't have a single NBA level skill or a defined NBA role. He was a total projection.

Brown- Isn't a shooter, isn't a scorer, was average at best defensively at the college, his supposed playmaking ability didn't lead to production on the college level (3.2 ast/2.5 to), he doesn't have a single NBA level skill or a defined NBA role. He is a total projection.

Lmao this is really a gross over simplification. Terrence Ferguson is a fine shooter and has been 4 several years. There was always the rumor floating that nBA execs though highly of him, and his shot. Ive seen a buncvh of his gamjes lver the years where he took a bunch of 3's and made almost all of them. Conversley I've never seen brown make a bunch of 3's in a game in the lets call it 5 years ive followed his story.

The Troy Brown oregon stint couldve gona better but i wouldnt be concerned with his ast/to ratio. They play a combo guard at point ball movement was far from ideal. That was ayoung college team and sure looked the part.

Fact: Oregon will be much more dangerous next season despite the loss of Brown. his replacement is 6'8 Louis King who's a 5star and 1st rd talent. IMO King's skillset is much more of a match in Utah than Brown, smooth scorer with nice perimeter touch...

I have seen it in my dreams, Huerter is going to bust.
Allen will be a better pro then both Huerter and Dante. I know he’s younger, but Allen could’ve gone pro after his sophomore year, just a case of him enjoying college. Not sure how you can like the other two and not be high on Allen as well.

Most of the scrutiny came cuz he was going cobra Kai on people... he was better as a sophomore than he was last year... he is maturing because he is old AF.

He has flaws to his game and has some of the same strengths as Donte... Donte is younger, has had less reps, and has room to grow. I don’t get the case for Grayson over Donte at all. He isn’t more athletic imo... he has some cool dunks but Donte gets more boards and is a better finisher... Grayson’s bully ball won’t translate.

You guys hitch your wagon to Allen all you want... I’m rolling with Donte without a second thought.

I’m not very high on either one tbh.

And yes, more scrutiny came because of his tripping and fits on the bench, but he already had a lot before that. I mean, the most hated guy at Duke since Redick, and that was before he was tripping guys. If Allen went to a different school he’d have a different reputation imo.
