Following Potential 2018 Draftees

There is always one or two that's bound to slide. It happens every year and I wonder who it will be. Rodney Hood was regarded as a top 15 pick and he slid to the Jazz. I was very surprised and happy at the time. And it will happen again you guys, I can't wait!

So many god damn wings in the 20-40 range and they all just blend together. Really hope our FO has seen some really standout qualities from some of the guys that help narrow it down.

My meager scouting just rocked frustrating because they all basically sound the same.

I seriously can't find a lot to knock about DiVincenzo. Great athlete and the athleticism shows itself in game. I like his mentality on the court... he plays with grit and confidence, he shows up in the big moments/games and seems to thrive under pressure. He rebounds the ball well for his size. He's a good passer although I do see him give the ball away with poor decisions from time to time. It's nothing that can't be fixed. His shot looks smooth and confident every time. He grades out as a solid defender. He passes every eye test...

I mean, why would he be a bad pick at 21? The only major knock that I can find is his size. 6'4 1/2, 6'6 wingspan, 8'1 1/2 standing reach. It will probably limit who he can guard. But with Rubio, DM, Exum and O'Neale all being good switchable defenders and Rudy protecting the paint is that a major problem? He also seems to do a good job of making up for his size with his athleticism. Idk, I'd be happy if he was the pick.

He's not my kinda player and I would probably say I'm absolutely passing on him as it doesn't seem like he has much of an upside... but then Devin Booker happened a couple of years ago and I can no longer shut the door on someone like DiVincenzo..

NBA Draft prospect Michael Porter Jr. revealed his medical/physical evaluation today at his workout and the results turned out better than expected.

As reported by Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports, Porter Jr. was in Chicago where NBA teams and their respective scouts were on the lookout for the 19-year-old’s medical test. This could be enough to prod Porter Jr.’s stock come draft night.

A top prospect ever since high school, Porter Jr.’s stock declined after he suffered a back injury in college. This forced him to sit out the rest of the season to undergo surgery. Though he said that he’s doing alright, NBA teams still feel restless.

A quick look at history will reveal that not a few top picks were injured even before playing their first NBA game. As such, the teams’ cautious behavior towards Porter Jr. is understandable.

Porter Jr. said that he’s been doing extra work and has been regularly working with his therapist. He that there’s no possibility to reinjure his back, per NBA.com:

“I just have to keep up with my (leg) extensions, my core exercises and stretching. I have a great physical therapist and team working with me through the draft, and they’re making me feel better every day. The recent MRI was to see how it had fully healed. There’s no risk to reinjure it.”
But now that NBA scouts have seen it right before their eyes that he’s healthy and good to go, Porter Jr. could find himself among the Top 3 picks in the draft.

LOL .. so just because he's ok today that means he'll be ok in the future? After several cancellations and now this?

What a dog and pony show this was... if I was a GM I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole.

There was rumor that Tyus Jones was gonna ask for a trade from the timberwolves but it's been diffused apparently. Nonetheless he would make an excellent trade target for utah, it'd cost more than the 1st rd pick for sure tho...

In the words of the late great R. Lee Ermey (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003) "I smell ********", (best scene of the movie btw)...

MP Jr is still going to be available to workout for whomever before the draft next week. Seems to me like these cancellations are a part of a chain of events started by a bluff - the Kings have been trying to smoke screen, which is that they are going to take MPjr 2nd....

Yep he’s available for whomever. And yet he canceled a multi-team workout.

Anyone have concerns about Huerter’s ability to defend at the next level?

Offensively, to me, he looks like a slightly less athletic but better shooting young Hayward. Which would be awesome to have.

The other question I have is, can the jazz package next years’s draft pick and Burks for another pick? Burks showed his value in the ability to create his own shot. But I’m unsure if he has a place here. It just seems like he’s played out. If we could use Burks as a way to draft someone like Elie Okobo, that would be awesome.

Come out of this draft with a shooter (Huerter) and a spark plug (Okobo) would be dynamite.
