Following Potential 2018 Draftees

I'm not sold on KBD, don't think he's that special at the next level.

I think he's low ceiling but high floor. I don't think he'll develop into a special player but if you draft him you know you'll probably be getting a solid role player.

But he would fit in really nicely with us if Favors doesn't come back.

A quality stretch 4 is such a commodity nowadays. We've experimented with Lyles but that failed miserably.
That's because he failed miserably.

I'm not sure KBD is playing that role full-time, but of the big wings that could play minutes at the 4, he has one of the better reaches and his rim protection isn't mentioned enough. Blocked a lot of shots for a guy that mostly played the 3.

Walt said explicitly KBD will be a stretch 4 in the NBA.

Alright, here is my official What I Want the Jazz to do thing:

Either:
21 - Huerter
52 - Spellman if he's there (I doubt he is)

OR IF HUERTER ISN'T THERE

trade 21 and 52 to Philly for 26 and 38 (or 26, 39, and 60) for

26 - THE BIG RAGU
38 - SPELLMAN

Spellman FTW. Threes, rebounding, and defense. Very short list of guys who can do all three at the 4:

1. AD.
2. Aminu (a little light on the rebounding).
3. Drawing a blank on another one.

Bonga might be better than him longer term--more athletic, better floor runner, better ball skills. KBD looks like a combo forward whose physicality and skill level stand out in the NCAA, but don't really in the NBA.

My dream draft.

Actually, I’m really okay with whoever we pick up, but think Spellman is a very interesting and gettable opportunity. We blew it on Niko. It’s time to ensure we have a real possibility at stretch four, and not some 6’5” guy who we put there because “he’s positionless.”

I'm having a hard time getting past the fact that Okogie is longer, faster, more explosive and defensively probably more versatile than Troy Brown. Plus he played on the ball more than Brown, can pass off the dribble, shot the ball better than Brown, and is only one year older. His steals, blocks and free-throw rate are pretty elite and speak to his in-game athleticism.

Give this guy two years to develop the right way, and he could be somewhere between an Oladipo and Jaylen Brown. I have to admit it's bugging me.

The other thing is that Okogie could be amazing on a spaced floor. The spacing he was dealing with in college was total crap and he had almost no one else to create for him.

If there's someone on our shortlist who is going to do a cross-over, blow-by and dunk, it's probably Okogie.
