Putting all the eggs in 2019 basket scares me.

We have money in a buyer’s market this year and should at least explore the options. Guaranteeing Thabo out of the gate just signals a full “run it back” without even letting the landscape develop.

Everyone says just use the MLE, but it’s my understanding we have no roster spots if we sign the 3 FA and guarantee the NGs.

If we get an agreement on a player they can renounce one of Neto, Exum, Udoh or Jerebko.

Only Sefolosha has a guarantee date tomorrow.

Thabo’s salary is irrelevant. The only reason they would waive him is for a roster spot. It doesn’t matter if anyone thinks $5.5M is too much.

Yep, not only in terms of having cap space, but Lindsey could very well strike at the deadline, not in free agency. Bring back the 3 non-guaranteeds, add in Burks, and that means $24M in expiring deals.

Thabo's salary is only relevant if Jazz are trying to clear a max slot for George. Then they'd want to waive Thabo and possibly bring him back IF George didn't sign with the Jazz. I thhink if Utah had a chance, though, George would have scheduled a meeting with them. We're hearing about an LA/Lebron meeting, but nothing indicating George has any serious interest in Utah.

Thabo had the best chemistry by far with Mitchell at the time he got injured. They were looking really good on the court together. Must be good experience from those years playing with special players like KD and Westbrook.

He had an avulsion tear. Basically, the ligament tore completely away from the bone. Much more complicated surgery (they have to re-anchor the ligament to the bone) and a longer rehab vs. standard MCL tear.

I looked it all up heading into the OKC series, hoping that he’d have an outside shot at coming back in the second round to help offset Ariza and Tucker. He’s actually right on target from all the stuff that I read about similar injuries.
