Jazz Free Agency Summer of 2018

Booker to replace Jerebko, perhaps?
Jazz are intent on assembling the meanest SOB's in the league. Seriously, would you want to mess with Utah when they can send Crowder and Booker after you? Those two are like the twin pit bulls you see guarding junkyards.
Trade Burks and Favors for Parker and Delly, then sign Booker.

Maybe that's a condition of a Rubio extension given some of the cheap crap he got last year. Book and Crowder would scare the **** out of me in a dark alley.

If the team is healthy and improves in a few areas just slightly, that's a good enough team to win 55 in the W, assuming the tear-arse we did in the 2nd half of last year wasn't a fluke.

I'll agree, that's a satisfactory offseason in my eyes. None of the big UFA targets make a lot of sense in my eyes considering our cap situation, roster, and their price tag.

My one hope is to use some of our option contracts to scoop up a future 1st in the Kawhi or LeBron situation. If we could add an extra pick and come out of the offseason with a 55-win young core that's under contract for multiple years, I would vote that a success.

We still haven't done anything with Thabo, haven't heard anything from the meeting with Favors and have heard nothing about Exum who was the "top priority".

Lots of news should be coming out before long....

You are correct. He has been a huge reason why we won a couple key games in the 1st round the last couple years. However, his limitations (offensive limitations and constant injury concerns) are a big reason why we got swept vs Golden State and lost 4-1 to Houston. Paying him $12 or more a year knowing that he's a consistent 12ppg and 8rpg guy with no range is not the type move contenders make.
Favors had nothing to do with us losing to GS or Houston besides being hurt. We played great with him vs GS when he was healthy.

Zero ******** will be allowed... none!

I think with Booker it’s if we elect to waive thabo or Jonas... a 1+1 at 3-4 M would be great... if Favs tells us to kick rocks bring him in.

Booker could play in the playoffs... not sure Jonas can.

I think a Parker S&T falls under the BYC provision. If so, a trade gets very complicated. Whatever a player in that category signs for is counted 100% in incoming salary, but only 50% for the team that trades him.

I don't get this at all. I thought he was great until the statistics were shown over and over again about how Gobert took an awful team and made them better when he came back from injury. In other words, we didn't play like we wanted to play with Favors as our 5. I would bet that our defense ran more normally when Udoh was at the 5. Regardless, every single stat said we were amazing with Gobert and awful without him.
We struggled without Gobert during his second injury last season. During Goberts first injury when Favors moved to the 5 we actually played better than we were with both of them early.

But yes when you lose a starter and a really good one your team does not play as well. Favors filled in at the 5 but we also had to have bench players fill in the starting 4 spot and the backup 5 spot.

Even more importantly that was during the hardest stretch of schedule any team had in the NBA during any stretch. When Gobert came back that was our easiest stretch of schedule for the year. That makes a huge difference.

I think Booker is a backup plan if we lose Favors. Like it's mentioned so many times before, we are fine with Crowder, Ingles, O'Neale, Jerekbo and even Thabo at the 4. Booker would just provide a little more size. I would expect it to be a 1+1 about the size of Udoh's deal.

Booker shot 24% on his 3's last season. He really CAN'T play alongside anyone the Jazz put in at the 5. I know we love Trevor for the volleyball shot, his hustle and his infamous quote about Enes, but he'd be a very poor way for Lindsey to spend his money. TBH, Jerebko IS a better 4.

Booker is 6'8" btw, I don't know how that is a little more size. Maybe more toughness than the Swedish Swish, but not more size. And Jonas has actually played some backup 5 in his career. If Favors leaves, Jazz need to use their money on a true 5. You can't play Udoh because of his offensive liabilities. I'm not sure how he scored in Europe. He has terrible hands and can't hit anything outside of 5".
