What's new

Jazz Free Agency Summer of 2018

I'm prepared to be shocked on whatever Exum gets... one way or another. hoping for 3/24ish.

Only because we have a stacked starting 5. But we are much better with rather then without. I would also argue we are better off losing Ingles then Favors.

You've got to be kidding me. Ingles is our third most important player. He's one of the 4 or 5 best 3 point shooters in the entire league. Favors is a center, we would be much better off with a quality stretch 4 in our starting lineup.

I am hoping for a 4 year deal that starts bigger and goes down each year for Exum. We have plenty of room this year.

Depends on who we keep and if we use MLE... but in general I agree... descending deals are ideal. We just have to stay 4-5M away from the luxury tax. If a trade comes along that requires us to take an additional 4-5M in salary I don't want us worried about the tax.

The burks contract wasn't bad when he signed it. AB had a nice season and then the injuries started happening.

Most contracts look good when they're signed. Hindsight is 20/20. Point is, most of DLs signings aren't bad, even in hindsight.

Agreed, or take on a player off waivers with a TPE or something like that. DL is a master at this, so he'll make it work.

Mozgov and Deng would like to have a word with you...

I'm kidding and I agree... DL has been almost too conservative on deals imo. AB was a good gamble... we changed styles and Paul Pierce is a dick... not DL fault.

We could also do a deal with AB that gives us less returning salary or something like that too... we have some give, but I want to see where Exum comes in.

If Belly doesn't want 6.5-7M then we cut Udoh and keep Jonas... sign a minimum player to Udoh's spot and we are gold.

Based off of the Favors deal, I would do a 3 year, $26 million deal for Exum.
Year 1 $8
Year 2 $8
Year 3 $10 (team option)

Not legal... you have to base raises on prior year salary... most they could do in that scenario is 8.64M in the final year (8% raises or declines).

Lakers 1 year 9M for Rondo.... Haaaaaaaa!
