Jazz Free Agency Summer of 2018

If you have a chance to add a star player, you have to do it. I think Lillard would be a great fit on this team. He and Mitchell would pretty much be interchangeable on both ends. We would have by far the best backcourt in the league.
I think Klay and Curry have something to say about that still. Harden and Paul are still up there as well.

So we’ve transitioned to talking about the idea of hypothetical trades for all-stars. Free agency must be over for Utah.

I mean, this was a realllllly boring offseason, but we definitely didn’t get worse, maintained flexibility for next year, and could see some big improvements internally.

Not too bad.

I was about to ask - why are we talking about a trade for Dame? Was it rumored somewhere or is this complete speculation?

Outside of the untouchables (Rudy and Donovan), we don't have the assets to compile a competitive offer.

Yah the end of the road. Unless we miraculously went and got Jabari somehow. Unlikely though, seems DL is content to just run it back and betting on internal improvements.

So maybe this was in a way DL saying to the team: "YOU are all you've got! Don't expect any calvary to come and save the day. YOU are the calvary!"

Kinda like that scene in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, where he thought somebody would come to help but nobody did and he ended up having to produce the Expecto Patronum against the Dementors to save himself and Sirius Black on the shore. Something he'd never done before.

Also kinda like how Goku became Super Saiyan when his back's against the wall.

Maybe DL is betting on Gobert, Rubio and Mitchell to do the same.

Can someone who speaks hotnickkk translate this for me please.

You needed to have watched Harry Potter or Dragonball Z to have gotten those references.
Ive been to Harry Potter world in Florida but I guess that doesn't help.

I have not watched either of those but I am guessing that you are saying that DL thinks our players will really step up and improve this year when the pressure is on.

Just like Lillard and MCollum the best backcourt in the league ? Then I doubt it.

You can never have too many offensive creators and playmakers. Especially when both of them can play off-ball too.
Sure. But for the price of Lilliard, I’d rather have someone with a different skill set. For example, Jimmy Butler.

I’m sure DM and DL could coexist. But DM would mesh better with a Butler type.

So you don't think that Donovan Mitchell is already better and has a much higher ceiling than CJ McCullom?
No I don't think he' already better, but I'll give you the ceiling part.
And the knock on Blazers duo is that they are too small, don't play any defense and kinda step on each others toes on offense.
So subbing Mitch for CJ not gonna make it the best backcourt in the league as they are very similar. It will be too flawed to carry that title. Don't be a silly homer.

Mitchell surpassed CJ in the playoffs this year. He can do more offensively and is a much better defender. He also rebounds better and passes better. The only thing CJ is better at right now is shooting 3s.

Mitchell also plays defense, neither of those two do. He might be short in height but he actually puts effort in and has a long wingspan. His defense is much better than CJ or Lillard.
