What's new

2011 draft.....

I'm on the Jenkins bandwagon. If the Jazz are acquiring a third pick to get him, then I'd go ahead and do it even if we draft Knight. Then you can trade the **** out of Harris (Matthews, please). Knight's ability to play some minutes at the 2 justifies picking both of these high-character guys.
I'd be pretty happy with a Knight, Biyombo, Jenkins draft, plus a trade of Devin Harris (+ other assets) for Nic Batum (who, with Roy, Wallace and Matthews on board, might see fewer minutes this coming season). Would be ****ing awesome.

Favors/Biyombo
AJ/Millsap
Millsap/Batum
Too Big/CJ/Raja
Knight/Jenkins

Nice young core with plenty of upside.

Indeed

lol

I think the Blazers would give up Matthews faster than they would give up Batum. That's why I lobby for Matthews, but either trade would rock ballz.

Watson/Knight/Jenkins
Matthews/Hayward/Knight/Bell
Hayward/AK (I know, I know)/Millsap
Favors/Millsap
Jefferson/Biyombo

DOPE.

EDIT: this post assumes that we'd have to give up CJ, Memo, and the additional asset(s) gained via the Blazer trade in order move #12 to #8 and gain the late first to snag Jenkins. ALL WORTH IT.

I certainly hope we would not trade Harris before the season. Counting on a 19yr old rookies is pretty risky.

I don't think so. Matthews might have the "potential" that Batum has, but he is a proven shooter/scorer/defender. Batum shoots good, sometimes. Batum defends well, sometimes. He is very inconsistent and the Blazers got Wallace as their SF, so I think that makes Batum expendable. They could view him as a sell high.

I agree. That's why I bring back Watson and start him. Let Knight be the guy off the bench and use Jenkins when Knight is playing some 2. There are minutes for both of them AND Watson, IMO.

Risky how? The Jazz aren't winning anything the next couple years.

yee of little faith. :) Jazz started playing better at end of the year. Hayward should hopefully start out strong. Favors got some good experience. Now if you are talking about championship then yeah we will need a couple of years.

Just get here already.

Most 2012 mock drafts agree the Jazz will not be that good next year. Most have us finishing just behind Golden State. Here are the players one draft has us taking with the 2 picks next year at 11 and 12.

  1. warriors.gif
Golden State Warriors: Marquis Teague, PG, Kentucky, 6-2, HS Sr.

Marquis Teague figures to be the next in line of John Calipari-coached point guards to be one and done.

  2. jazz.gif
Utah Jazz: John Henson, F, North Carolina, 6-10, So.

John Henson is insanely long and has nice athleticism, but his rail-thin frame will be his biggest obstacle in transitioning to the next level.

The 1 is the 11th pick and the 2 is the 12th pick. Pretty good players, or we could package the 2 picks to move up. Just looking ahead some. We have beat this years draft to death at this point.

No, all of the 2012 mock drafts use the same picks as this years, meaning whoever had the worst record this year (Minnesota) should have the #1 pick in the 2012 mock drafts unless they got it in the draft. So, the Jazz won't be #6 in 2012 mock drafts New Jersey will be, and so on.

Hence the reason they have us at 12, not 6.

I like Reggie Jackson/Charlie Jenkins if the Jazz can acquire another pick. I would even consider the rumored Washington Trade 6, 18, 34 for #3 and change (CJ or Raja). At 6 I would draft Biyombo, 12 (Best SF left) and 18 (Jenkins or Jackson), 34 (Tyler, Mack, BPA)

Jenkins, Jackson might be there at 34. Mack will be.
Tyler won't, so I wouldn't use the 18th on a PG. If you want to gamble on Tyler's upside you gotta take him with the 18th pick IMHO.

4575 posts.
That is amazing and sad all rolled into one.
We should be proud and embarassed at the same time.

Ok... carry on.

Find a way to parlay Bell, CJ, and Tomic's rights for late 1sts (or early 2nds) and grab Charles Jenkins and Jimmy Butler. Please.

I like this idea. I like the idea of acquiring a late first or even a 2nd rounder, but not at the expense of moving down from 3 or 12. Keep those, but get rid of the dead weight. Just curious, can we exercise our option on CJ before the new CBA, which would allow us to trade him, or do we have to wait till the new one comes out?

Damn it, I keep forgetting about that hitch. I don't see why they couldn't exercise the option before June 30th if they wanted to, but somehow I get the feeling they can't for some stupid reason.

Trading CJ for a late 1st is insane. The historical track record on those guys straight busting or becoming marginal role players is like 80 percent. Trading CJ in a deal to get an established player makes sense.

But what if I'm done with CJ? You know, I'm in the FO and I'm saying, "Well, we'll pick up the option because not doing so is stupid as hell and we wanna get something out of him... so..."

I'd trade him for the pick that gets us Jenkins any day of the ****ing week.
