Trump's golf bill

Trump lost the popular vote by 3 million votes despite:

1. Russians hacking the DNC server and releasing embarrassing information at various periods during the campaign. These released emails changed narratives and gave trump vital cover for his campaign.

2. A Russian disinformation blitz on social media that we still are investigating. Cambridge Analytica took advantage of Facebook and its customer’s personal information in ways that aren’t supposed to be possible anymore.

3. The Democratic candidate being one of the most least liked and exciting candidate in recent memory. I can’t remember a candidate so polarizing. Even during the DNC convention it looked like Bernie’s crowd might state a coup. This depressed turnout and increased votes for trump and green parties.

Do people really think he’ll be re-elected? He’s got a 40 percent approval rating right now. He’s electrified the DNC and has increased voter turnout across the nation. In special elections since his inauguration democrats are winning by +18 percent pts from the previous congressional elections. Trump has been a weight around the GOP’s neck, not an asset.

If you’re still with trashy trump after all this, I’m sorry, but you are a trashy person.
I worry about the fact that the evangelicals, who he just told to break the law and endorse him from the pulpit, will actually break the toothless law and endorse him explicitly. And, actually, yes, that includes the Mormons.

I have no time for Trump but this attitude is probably part of what helped him get elected and probably re-elected

You really think half the American population are despicable people ? I’d hazard a guess that a lot of people voted for him despite what a douche he is because they prefer his policies as a whole to the alternative. Pretty arrogant to label every one of them as despicable

Don't lie you love T.Rump, its a shame we don't execute people for treason anymore

his taste in golf courses is atrocious. And he cheats at golf .... so .. no

I actually think cheating at golf is his only positive quality. Ridiculous pastime.

Anyway theres no talking your way out of this, if it wasn't raining i'd be outside preparing the gallows.

if you weren't hungover you'd be outside preparing the gallows !

Now I’m curious, what are Donald’s perceived victories? The economy was already humming along well before he even announced his candidacy. Worker (real) salary hasn’t increased during his presidency. Stock buybacks aren’t necessarily benefical. So I don’t want to hear “the economy” nonsense. Our overall strategy against ISIS hasn’t changed from Obama to Trump.

So what good has he done?

You mean you didn't vote for him because you didn't vote.

I wouldn't refer to Hitler as a douche. I would refer to him as a psychopath. We can discuss the level to which Trump is a psychopath, but I mostly think of him as a douche with severe narcissism, etc.

I don’t think psychopath is too far off.

You’d have to be one to desire such divisiveness in our country. His racist tweets and actions have real long term effects. He’s damaging the very fabric of American society.

And that’s without addressing the elephant in the room, traumatizing innocnent children by putting them in cages and deporting their parents. Who the would do that? Not a mere narcissist, that’s for sure.

**** evangelicals. They’ve lost the moral standing to lecture us about anything. Out vote the hell out of those racist hypocrites.

If American Christianity supports trump, then it’s time for Christianity to die out. And yes, that stands for Mormons too. If Mormonism can no longer stand up to the immorality of the modern King Noah, then it needs to die out, just as it did with the Nephites.

If his immorality didn’t scare Mormons, then his authoritarianism should. Today, trump is attacking Muslims, blacks, and Hispanics. If we don’t stand up for them now who’ll stand up for Mormons when Trump comes after them?

At this point, claiming that Trump’s done some good is like claiming that John Amechi wasn’t a bust signing and that we focus too much on the negative. After all, he kept a lot of benches warm.

No, no it does not.

I never said or hinted at 99% of what you said either.

Your response is right up their with Trump's whataboutisms.

We should get rid of that dumb law with the same law that removes their tax exempt status. 501 (c)3 is dumb. If I have to pay taxes then I think the organizations that have the cash to build gold encrusted monuments to their pet deity should have to too.

"We're not going to pay our tax bill. We already spent that money on **** we thought was more important."

Not sure who you are talking to, but I have no love affair with Trump. I did not vote for him, even though I am in favor of some of his policies. I have always believed that the people who are overstating his issues are doing him more good than harm.

Also, it's news to me that Hitler was not a douche.

Which Trump policies specifically are you in favor of?

That’s not what polls showed. Hillary was the favorite to win the popular vote. And she did win the popular vote. Hillary was favored to win. But polls that took into consideration the EC also gave trump a fighting chance.

We still don’t know the full extent of Russian influence on 2016.

But I think it’s safe to say that Trump won’t ever enjoy the turnout he had in 2016 nor will democrat turnout be so depressed.

Trump’s been the best thing that has happened in decades to energize democrats, moderates, and decent people.

Comey turned the election. Great point about energizing decent people.

Shouldn’t decency, civil rights, racism, democratic norms, foreign policy, law and order, concern for the environment, ethics and corruption, and respect for the first amendment matter more than the stock market? The economy was humming along just fine for years before he came along. All he did was give out a few executive orders deregulating finance and environmental regulations and give a tax cut that drove up the deficit and gave CEOs stock buybacks. most of his “base” hasn’t benefitted from the stock market or tax cut at all. They’re not seeing any rise in wages. Hell, they’re seeing their health care premiums skyrocket, social security threatened due to deficits, and jobs disappear with further investment in automation. They’re making less in real wages today than before he became pres.

At this point, claiming that Trump’s done some good is like claiming that John Amechi wasn’t a bust signing and that we focus too much on the negative. After all, he kept a lot of benches warm.

GREAT post.

And another great post. You sum things up well.

BTW, so ****ed up that Mormons choose party over decency. I have Mormon friends and I can't even comprehend living that Trump lie when so much of your life is dedicated to Christ.

Obama posted a 40% approval rating (Gallup polls) multiple times in his presidency. Also, IMO, this article really sums up why Trump won.

"The utter contempt with which privileged Eastern liberals such as myself discuss red-state, gun-country, working-class America as ridiculous and morons and rubes is largely responsible for the upswell of rage and contempt and desire to pull down the temple that we're seeing now," Bourdain told Reason

He gave a very good interview on this. I detest trump as much as the next guy, but his message obviously rang true for enough people to win the election.

I think some of the support for him we are still seeing is simply people in denial, maybe willing to turn a blind eye because no one likes to be wrong and have their noses rubbed in it. I think that last part explains some of it too, backlash against the backlash, so to speak.

Some of them, of course, are simply on board, fully indoctrinated. Either dyed in the wool repubs, closet, or open, racists, and, yes, some despicable people.

But I think a bigger part is purely ignorance of the reality of it all. A lot of people only follow any of this stuff at election time then defend their decision mostly blindly.

I think you're wrong dude I'd say some fair part of the the T.Rump vote comes from people who rightly see themselves as excluded from the system, it was ok to poor white people when it was minorities that were excluded from 'the good life' but now that they are also excluded they have run to populist racist scum like T.Rump.

They are not wrong in their conclusions they are being screwed but its not by other poor people, its by corporations and the polity itself. Capitalism has ruined democracy, that is why we have T.Rump, this is why a redneck former pig came within a **** hair of being PM. Corporate power and money is the real enemy, not T.Rump, he's just a shill for their ********.

Not buying this at all. It's not "on both sides" as Trump put it.

Over the years it has increasingly been the right-wingers(not true conservatives, who are still out there but aren't speaking up) who use the word liberal as an insult. The far right has become like a cult... anything goes as long as it strengthens the zealotry. It's a shame that the good people who consider themselves classical Republicans and those who are centrists aren't stepping up to denounce the new direction of the Republican party. We are currently a three party country(Dems, Repubs and those who won't be characterized by either one) but the centrists have no voice. Most centrists avoid confrontation. They need to speak up for decency.

I find that funny. So many people voted for trump simply because lots of people were saying bad things about them. Not because they thought trump would be a good president or that they liked him but simply because a bunch of liberals said stuff about them and hurt their feelings. Man, those who voted for trump are even stupider and softer than i originally thought. Bunch a snowflakes apparently.
