Supreme Court Justice Kennedy to Retire

How old are you? I have a feeling your opinion on this matter will change by age 45 at the latest.
Is there something magical about turning 45 that makes you believe stupid ****? Because otherwise I don’t see it happening. Take one look at the country and tell me we’re in the same place as we were 20 years ago with regard to gender politics.

Lol. The Republicans were going crazy about the Clinton sex scandals. If you don't realize that the Dems "who cares?" reaction to his behavior played a large role in the Republicans not caring about Trump's you aren't paying attention.

This is the problem. You shouldnt just be like “well other dudes 20 years ago acted like assholes so now we should too”

So if the Dems had control of the presidency and both houses but were fearful of losing it soon, and they had the opportunity to seat a Supreme Court justice and were headed to the vote when suddenly Republicans claimed there was an anonymous claim that they said required investigation, you believe that the Dems would stop everything and say, "Gee, this sure sounds credible. Let's halt everything and risk losing our opportunity while we give control over to the minority and see how long they can tie this thing up?"

Even if you are not willing to admit which side of that argument you'd fall on, I've been around long enough to know exactly what would happen. The vast majority of people are choosing their side in these sqabbles not based on the facts, but based on politics.

This particular instance was a perfect storm for the Democrats. In my opinion they will come out the big winner because growing numbers of conservatives (myself included) now believe that Kavanaugh should not be confirmed, and that means a significant opportunity lost for the Republicans. Kavanaugh lied to us. People on both sides should be pissed.
There are plenty of false equivalencies you’ve made in this little scenario, but generally yes, I do believe if the democrats nominated someone to the Supreme Court with credible sexual assault allegations against them they would investigate the claims, if for no other reason than that their core constituency would demand it of them. That is something that does actually differentiate the parties, if a Dem president gave a stump speech for a Roy Moore type for example they would catch hell for it from their base, a Republican President on the other hand...not so much.

That's not what I'm saying at all. What I'm saying is that politics is a dirty business and it always will be. Both parties have proven that they are willing to look the other way regarding ethics when it's to their political advantage. I've seen it happen repeatedly, and I've seen supporters on both sides climb on board with bad behavior. I think it is unfortunately true that in politics, "nice guys finish last."

Lol. Yeah, right. The Dems have completely changed since they supported Clinton. (Not just Bill, Hillary too.) I'm confident it won't be more than a couple of years before you have to eat those words if you're being honest.

Here’s what’s so frustrating about dealing with you guys. When we point to an example of a popular Democrat who was actually held accountable (for crimes far less severe than what Kavenaugh/Moore are accused of btw) and removed from office due to pressure from the Democrat rank and file as well as his female Democratic colleagues, it is hand waved away as some sort of craven political move with no evidence whatsoever.

There's tons of evidence. Take a look at the lawyer who Ford hired. She defended Franken and she defended Clinton. She is not on the side of women as she is currently succeeding in making you believe. She's on the side of liberals. You are just being blind to what she is really trying to accomplish even though she has stated it clearly. She wants to obstruct Trump in any way she can. That is the most important outcome to the attorney representing Ford. I certainly wouldn't want her representing me.

Lol this is truly top notch **** right here. You figured it out! Debra Katz is pulling the strings for the Democratic party. This proves they are just doing her evil bidding...somehow.

Get a grip dude. Lawyers are on the side of whoever they are representing. She represented AL Franken because he paid her to. One quick glance at her wiki page shows she has a long history of taking clients who have been sexually assaulted. Hell she even went after NPR executive Michael Oreskes and Harvey Weinstein.

I'm sure those were all for show though, to provide her cover as a Democrat operative.

Also you'd be an idiot not to want to be represented by Debra Katz. She's actually really ****ing good at her job.

Sorry you have to deal with us. Your smugness defines you and blinds you. Al Franken had seven accusers with ample evidence (including photos) and corroborating witnesses, and many Dems still fought for him to stay.

If that were the case with Kavanaugh, I would be all over villifying him and replacing him immediately. As it stands, I tend to believe Ford, but I am not sure there is not enough evidence that Kavanaugh did it. But I think the way the Dems have pushed this (pretty evident that they leaked it) and the Repubs (predictable) reactions have both eroded our political system. It isn't about what Kavanaugh thinks he deserves, or whether he gets a cushy lifetime appointment. It isn't about a job interview. I don't care about the yuppy from Yale. I care about the viability and principles that the USA are based upon. It is a slippery slope when one person can essentially remove decision making from elected officials without definitive proof. I didn't agree with the delay on the Garland appointment either. He would have been a balanced jurist IMO. I think this is worse. I expect more from our elected officials on both sides and I am tired of political games. It is time our politicians start working for all Americans and not two parties that are continually continuing to be divergent with many American's political views.

I counseled an Obama appointee, and was disgusted by many politically self-serving decisions that were made during my tenure.

And FWIW, I am FAR from a Republican. I am for single payer health care and think that trying operate a capitalist based medical system in a socially based system in the rest of the world is ridiculous. I am for reasonable tax increases on the rich, I believe in equal opportunity for the socioeconomically disadvantaged (improving the lifes of our poor will be advantageous for everyone). I am pro-choice politically (but think defining a life as defined in Planned Parenthood v. Casey is arbitrary). I don't relate to either party lately, but definitely lean left.

But I hate the smugness from many Dems like their **** don't stink. Calling Repubs racists, rednecks, idiots, or acting like you are tolersting them and having to "deal with them". **** like that is what got Trump appointed in the first place.

Sorry, I didn't realize you guys were so sensitive. I will make sure to tone police my posts in here better lest I offend someone and force them to vote for another racist orange skinned lunatic. FOH.

You react just the way I have come to expect from you. Tell me to get the **** outta here? Calling me or others sensitive? I referenced Dems in general. When a political party calls people thay don't agree with them idiots, bigots, sexists and racists, how do you think they will vote? Do you think they will listen to anything you have to say? Why even communicate your opinion if not to try to convince someone? Your reactions will just cause people to dismiss anything you have to say.

Good. Lest you continue to spout self righteous ********. I don’t even care anymore.

Y’all a bunch of circle jerking, self righteous assholes with a tendency to condemn any different.

**** this, **** that, **** them l, **** the president and ****, **** the tendency go shut down the free expression of discourse and ideas via fake and immensely exaggerated outrage.

But this isn’t it. Hillary Clinton ran for president 18 months ago. And she was God’s gift to America on some circles. She played an aggressive, active role in silencing Bill’s accusers.

**** the Rs, to hell with that pile of steaming, worthless trash. They are poison.

But anyone ignoring the historical road is fooling themselves. Neither party gives two ***** about you, your beliefes or your values.

Wake the **** up. (Generally speaking).

I gotta wonder, how dumb can one be to think sexual assault is a Republican or Democratic problem?

Bipartisanship for the win.
It's almost like in the last year one party has repeatedly gone to bat for guys accused of sexual assault and the other has not. Huh.

Except H. Clinton defended and supported a know sexual predator. She actively worked to silence his accusers. Over and over and over.

Broadrick, Jones, Willey, Millew and Lewinsky.

But shhh. Right?!!!

**** both parties.

When will people wake the hell up!?!!!!

I don't understand half of what you wrote here. Maybe take a second and collect your thoughts.

I haven't shut down anyone's freedom to express their ideas, what are you even talking about?

Oh and FWIW I haven't used any insulting language, or engaged in any name calling. Maybe the one calling others self righteous assholes should consider the damage they are doing to 'the discourse.'

Demeaning others for anything short of trump condemnation on her has become the norm.

The man, a total ****, could cure AIDS and it could be presented as evil.

You unfairly took the quoted brunt but the point stands.

Also beer.

And she was God’s gift to America on some circles.

Really? She lost to trump of all people. I think the majority of people that voted for her did so only cause trump was the other dude. Pretty sure the people that actually liked her were a very small cirlce.

Except they nominated her from within the party.
