2011 draft.....

Are you being sarcastic or do you really think udoh and aminu are that much better than Hayward?
and Ed Davis, Xavier Henry, Cole Aldrich and Paul George were still available and projected to be decent. No drop-off after 8 last season.

sounds like Toronto really likes Knight. I wonder if they and Utah can quietly work out a deal where the Jazz draft Knight, Toronto drafts either Kanter or Valanciunas or Bismack, and they don't announce the trade until later on - after the Jazz' 12th pick.

If the Jazz take Knight 3rd then no sweet-on-Fredette team would feel any pressure to trade up to grab Fredette before the Jazz at 12. -- oh, and the Raptors would have to give the Jazz a little something for trading them Knight.

If Fredette is taken anyway there are other players I like that'll be there.

You can trade the draft rights to a player at any time you want...even months after the draft.

I don't think it really matters, though. I think the Jazz FO likely has the draft as Irving, Willaims, Knight. Despite working out solo - on the advice of his agent - I think Brandon helped himself yesterday. He's well-spoken, has a high BB IQ and was a model kid in HS. Character will NEVER be an issue with this kid. And I definitely think he could become the leader on the court the Jazz need. He can even play some 2 w/ Devin in a small line-up. Jazz will draft Harris #3...guaranteed.

Wow. Tobias Harris is a bit of a reach, but ok.

Yeah I don't think it would have been a surprise if the jazz had taken any of those guys you mentioned, there was plenty of talent last year. This year I just hope that someone drops to 3 otherwise it will be difficult decision on who to take.

If the draft were to happen today, I think I'd plan to take Knight and Montiejunas, unless Williams slipped to #3, in which case, I'd take Williams and still plan to take Montiejunas.

Jazz front office, are said to be huge fans of Chris Singleton, so maybe that is why Chad Ford and Jonathan Givony continually put him at #12 in their mock drafts.

Yes, there was sarcasm in that post. Last year many of the mocks nailed the top 8 players (perhaps not the order) but 9 was anyones guess. After the draft one of the local reporters, who knew the top 8 were mocked very closely, asked KOC what it was like to draft 9th in an 8 player draft.

KOC responded with some bite that every draft he'd been a part of seemed like there was a drop-off just before his draft postion. He even said something like if the jazz had drafted 6th they would see a drop-off at 5.

I don't understand the meh for Singleton on this board. When I think of Singleton I think of Shane Battier, I always wanted a player like that on the Jazz. All he has to do is hone his 3 point shot to be that for us.

Oops, meant to say Knight. Was thinking of him coming behind Devin Harris. Nice catch!

The rumors about Millsap and Harris on the trading block may change everything. Fishing expedition by KOC to see who has the most trade value?
Perhaps the Jazz really are undecided about BPA between Kanter, Williams and Knight, believing all three can become good starters. Unless Irving slides, they'd have their chocie between 2 of those 3. It would make sense to see if any deals are out there. If someone really wants Harris, then take that deal and draft Knight. If they get solid offers for Millsap, trade Paul and take Kanter (or DWill).

How many big trades has KOC ever made? The Dwill trade happened because they felt like they absolutely had too.

I do think there were two cut-offs last year. Everyone nailed the top-5. And the next 3 were fairly easy to pick. But 9-16 were anybody's guess. We probably had five different players going to the Jazz and only Honz and KOC picked Hayward.

nothingbutnet may have a point. We haven't heard much noise about Singleton from the Utah media. Could that be a sign KOC is purposely avoiding all talk so that he doesn't move up? Singleton does have an NBA-ready skill: defense. He'd be a lock to AT LEAST be the backup SF this year and move into the starting role once CJ is gone.

I don't see Millsap or Harris as "big trades." KOC - and the Jazz organization - have made trades before to upgrade a position. Giricek for Stevenson and then Korver for Giri. Hornacek replacing Jeff Malone. It's also not unprecendented for the Jazz to have an extremely promising young player replace a popular veteran (Green traded to make way for Stockton). Jazz might be looking at a shrinking cap and decide that having those big salaries for potentially backup players is just too expensive. I won't be surprised if one is moved. My bet is Harris, with the Jazz drafting Knight.

Highly doubt that. Throwing a 19 year old kid into the fire like that isn't really the Jazz style. Even DWill, who came out 2 years older than Knight, was given limited minutes the first year.

If Singleton's unanimous draft-ceiling is 12, then the Jazz are failing. They need to be trying to get someone else to slide, not seemingly indicate that they're hell-bent on reaching on a guy you might not be able to leave on a court because he can't do anything offensively.

See the Jazz workout thread for latest news. Does it mean we are considering Jan Vesely at 3 or are we looking at trading down. Almost no way he is there at 12, but if so it would be hard to pass him up.

Thanks. Thought so. Golden State taking Udoh that high still has me scratching my head.

Being a FSU alum I certainly like Singleton as a player, but can we do better at 12 is the question?
