Free Free Free yardwork in the Clinton West Point area
West Point, UT 84015 - Jun 16, 2011
I have three teenage children that had a horrible school year grade wise. Because of this they are gonna be working hard this summer. They do have summer school each day until noon but are free after that. I want them to learn that there are consequences for their actions, so......
If there is anybody out there that is having a hard doing their yardwork, or can not do at all, my children will be happy to do it for FREE. THEY WILL BE ESPECIALLY HAPPY TO HELP THE ELDERLY AND OUR VERY SPECIAL MILITARY FAMILIES. Call me and we can work out a time for them to come over.
Mowing, weeding, watering, pretty much any OUTDOOR kind of work.

Frickin awesome! My kids are going to hate me when they're teenagers. This sounds like something I would do.

I know everyone thinks, "wow-wee good for that parent who knows how to keep the iron fist down on his kids." But from what I've seen most of these "problem scenarios" aren't 100% the kid's fault.

But I'm sure this will turn out well... the ole "Handwork warrants no reward whatsoever" generally produces good results, especially in relation to school work.

Don't you have an ACLU meeting to get to?

LOL! It's a punishment.
Doing good deeds for others who really need it is not a bad lesson to learn either.

Sounds like somebody's daddy made them mow the lawn...once.

Do you think they would come to Reno and mow my lawn?

It is a punishment. What work is it supposed to do?

It would be nice if it wasn't a huge net negative for all us innocent folks.

I've never understood the logic of locking someone up because they're dangerous, doing nothing to make them less dangerous, then after the timer goes off we release them back onto the innocent. Just really doesn't make sense to me.

You lock someone up who broke the law because that is the only punishment liberals allow. Then once they are in there they get to sit idly, go to college on the taxpayer, play basketball, lift weights, and then they can get out for "good behavior" years earlier than their sentence. Then if they get the death penalty we let them prolong their life for decades with appeals. It ain't how I would run things.

Most Prisons are equipped with rehabilitation programs, higher education assistance, general education assistance, trade schools, counseling, etc...the problem you have is you can force inmates to go to these classes, but you can't force them to want to change their life. I've talked to plenty of people who say the "hustle" is too exciting of a lifestyle to give up. I'd be interested in hearing realistic suggestions from you and Joker as to how to fix the system by forcing hardened criminals to be open to suggestions from couselors.

It's a shame that such a large percentage of our population, per capita (in comparison to other nations), are locked up. However, instead of feeling sorry for them for being locked up I tend to feel more sorry for the victims of their crimes.

How would you run things?
