What's new

***Hysterical overreaction thread***

We can't kick out to Ingles or Mitchell because the opposing defense doesn't leave them because they don't have to because Rubio can't shoot, Gobert doesn't have a post up game, and Favors is pretty much only there for offensive rebounds and putbacks.

What I’m saying is that they were kicking out the ball too often rather than pulling up and shooting or just driving in and attempting to draw a foul at least. If your shots aren’t going down at least try to make it to the free throw line.

How often do people tell you to shut the hell up in your day to day life? Spacing, post up, ramble rant ramble.

You are right, I misread your post.

If we are talking about Rubio, I'm not so sure that's a great solution. He is not very great at finishing at the rim and his midrange game isn't consistent either. If he could promise to knock down the open or semi-open 15 footer, our offense would open up some. I think that many in this forum have lost faith in his ability to make that shot consistently enough.

The fact that Rubio gets that look and almost always kicks it out tells me he doesn't have confidence in himself.

Once again, quality addition to the conversation toilet.

Side note, I manage a rec facility so I get to have quality conversations all the time with knowledgeable basketball folks. The difference? I get to talk to them face to face without faceless key board warriors taking shots that are irrelevant to the point at hand.

Have a nice day

Its drive and dish, ISO late when (always) necessary. The team is deferring to Rubio bailout and Jae's quick shot. It's making them both look uglier than what they could be.

Quin should read this basic post.

Do you treat them to pizza party to get such meaningful discussion from these pros or is it just vanilla and rootbeer?

Nah man. I'm blessed enough to be able to work at a place with a bunch of good players and have some really good conversations. I will run some 3v3 tournaments soon if you want me to get you on a team. Pizza will probably be provided since I'll get them to sponsor.

Not sure what is going on with Rubio. His shot continued to look decent in Europe this last Summer. He is not shooting flat and he is clearly overthinking/hesitating when he is shooting it from deep. I know he has the capability to hit wide open 3's at a decent percentage. If he can do that, it will open things up. Still, I wish the team had other sets as what they run is fairly predictable, and if outside shots are not falling, it is easy to pack the paint. My biggest beef with Quin's system is it largely allows defenders to relax off the ball. Nearly every screen is on ball. The Jazz of old had so many off ball screens, back screens, etc., it made the defenders work hard. I know 3's have a higher emphasis, but I do think we have the personnel to get a lot of points in other ways. Running some Flex and UCLA sets with Gobert's wide screens and the cutting ability and quickness of Exum, Burks, Mitchell, etc. could be fun to watch. I actually think those are the types of sets where Ricky would be awesome. He is a great passer, but Quin's offense does not take advantage of that.

I don't think full panic mode is necessary at this point. I do think Rubio is the key, and I think he has the ability to shoot. For the last 3 seasons he has started off slow and turned things on as the season progressed. Let's hope for a continuation of that.

Great post.

It's going to feel bittersweet to bump this garbage thread oh so often this season. The irony will be great too.
