Game 16: Jazz Sweep the Celtics 5:30 MT

Is it really, though?

A little... I enjoyed him here. I thought this situation was better for him with regard to basketball and off the court personality... he’s on the dwill spiral to irrelevance and could have had a friggin statue.

Do you guys think AB could hold his own in a dunk contest?
I doubt Alec would come up with anything really clever or impressive. He's a very good dunker and athlete, but I don't think he belongs in a contest. He's the quiet sort.

Did you catch the spattering of boos for Jae when announced... I mean he did get traded a few hours after his mom died so I can understand why Celtics fans would be pissy about that.
In their defense, though, he hasn't been very positive in his remarks about the Celtics after the trade, and that never makes you popular among a fan base, no matter the reason.

What surprised me with Gordon's play this game was how determined he was to kick it out again whenever he drove towards the basket. He didn't play well in Utah, but I can't remember him doing that. He was very passive for a long time, then he attacked a couple of times and missed (plus Donovan's block), and returned to passive. It's really very surprising.

Celtics overachieved in a garbage conference last season. Cleveland also toyed with them in the ECF. They have a bunch of solid players and played really hard. I think Tatum will be bigtime offensive player down the road, but he’s still young and inexperienced. He rightfully got a lot hype in the ECF, but that was against an unfocused team that was content to leave JR Smith guarding Tatum on an island. As it stands now, the C’s really only have one guy who can get buckets efficiently and be a consistent playmaker. I think if Hayward gets on track and is more assertive he can help them tremendously. Pre-injury gameward is the 2nd playmaker on that team for sure.

It was more joking... I mean he didn’t want to get traded and they traded him at a really awful time in his life. Be like one of us getting fired right after our mom died... even if they didn’t know she had passed they knew she was really sick. You don’t hold up business for that I get it but if Celtics fans are all “why can’t the Jazz get over it... why they booing” I think then they should respect a dude that played hard for them and didn’t absolutely trash the organization because it was a really bad look.

The Celtics were playing some amazing basketball to end last year. If they could have solved their problems with LeBron, they would have been fun to watch against GS.

They have lost their energy. I feel for guys like Tatum, but then again I don't like the Celtics so screw them.

They’ve got too many guys playing for money and individual attention. They will move on from some at some point. I thought brad would have them working better together. The way nba media talks about him you’d think he was a better version of Pop.
A lot of it is just guys who normally shoot well are shooting terribly. They are playing a lot like the Jazz, but they don't have Gobert to be the smart shot selection team like Utah is. Their good offensive nights have to be from Irving or Tatum going off. When I watch them, I still think Hayward and Horford are their two best at running offense for others, but they are both struggling from an individual standpoint.

They got 4 major role players shooting from the field and 3 like Ricky Rubio (Brown/Hayward/Rozier/Smart). Horford, who is they key to their offense like Gobert is to Utah's (though obviously in a different way), looks slower on defense and his 3pt shot is off to a bad start. He's suppose to be the guy who kills traditional bigs, but he was a -24 across the two games.

Obviously Smart and Rozier are ***, but Hayward and Brown, even if they arent getting their usual usage or shots, should be more efficient shooters than that. Brown looked awful in both games. I thought Favors guarding him might be a mismatch he would exploit to start games, but he was just awful.

I was never really sold on Brown. His 3 pt % last year never lined up to a player with his poor free throws and mid range shot.

The Celtics fans seemed to have turned on him. I was surprised by their comments about him. I don't think Brown is a lost cause, he just needs better coaching.

Yep and i think we always knew that.
If rubio and X play good then we are very tough to beat. Problem is that they have held us back in most games so far this year.
Exum has played good this year. The only time I can remember he wasnt was against Boston's last game when he played for 2 minutes

I wonder how much dissent there is in the locker room for the celtics, b/c they see Hayward as the coaches pet.

Quin u should let Dante play the way he played against Boston. That means having him have the ball in his hands attacking the ring. Not the way he plays him most games standing in the corner. His strength isnt shooting. So can quin please let him attack from the top of the key or at the 45 every game.....

I try to avoid Boston TV crew as much as possible. Them and Cavs are the worst with Miami's being close third. Although now when Cavs suck again they are becoming a bit more reasonable.

Agreed. Boston announcers have been bad for many years. Just seem very disgruntled.

Can you blame them? Their team hasnt won a championship since 2008. And in those struggling years they've only been to the playoffs 9 times and only had a top 5 pick 3 times.

I still like Jaylen Brown amd Rozier. There just isnt enough shots to go around on that team to make everyone look good..
