Have any stories? Either by you or done for you? Here's mine from today.

A former coworker asked me if I could do anything with a laptop they bought from goodwill for $10 as a possible Christmas present to her grandson.. to play simple games with, but she couldn't install or delete any software on it because the guest account didn't have any admin privileges.

Well i cracked the admin account password using a common hacking tool(windows vista OS) of the original owner. Wow I am amazed at information left on it, I can tell you everything about her, she left pictures, resumes, school work, and 4 years of turbo tax files (even her friends and brother's) with everything, bank accounts even a file with passwords to all kinds of things, emails, walgreens.com etc etc, her bank online, name it. Even private journal like stuff.

Being the amazingly awesome guy I am - I was going to delete it all. If this ended up in the wrong hands it is easily major identity fraud waiting to happen. She didn't answer but I texted her, she was reluctant to speak with me... I could tell she thought I might be attempting ransom. She said she didn't think she had lost a laptop but had one stolen 12 years ago in college. Explained to her this must be it... sent her a photo... I offered to save all the data to a flash drive and mail it her and she just said thanks so much. Didn't even offer to pay for the 8 gig usb drive, postage, or my effort. LOL! Man she is lucky. Samaritan contribution of the year. Karma you seeing this?

@JimLes, perhaps take it as good moral to safeguard your data. When storing passwords, at least use a simple type of encryption, like if my password was say banana888 I'd save it somewhere as avocado888 that way if it falls into the wrong hands you're still protected.

In honor of your kindness I will pass on good karma by ensuring I provide at least one courtesy flush at work today. Karma, are you smelling this?

There was an elderly lady at costco who was struggling trying to pull a package out of the upper section of a freezer, you know how sometimes they are packed in their tight. So I walked over and pulled it down for her.

This just reminded me of a time I was at Costco, when I was done, I got in my car and started to back out of my porking spot, and scraped the parked car next to me, it was summer time, and didn’t want to potentially wait for this person for an hour in 90+ degree heat so I wrote my number and address and said I scrapped the side of their car.

Anyways, a few weeks go by, and I heard nothing from this person, then one day I get a call from a lady, turns out she was so great-full that I didn’t just leave without giving my info that she took time to get estimates for the cheapest repair, the lowest she got was 300 and change. She allowed me to pay it off without involving insurance and stuff. Two for one there boo ya!!!

About 5 years ago, in december, i was walking outside with my wife and child. We had first snow, time was between 11-12 AM and nearby this location https://www.google.com/maps/@59.487...w=203&h=100&yaw=78.48626&pitch=0&thumbfov=100 i noticed a middle-aged man (age was between 30-50) laying near the children playground in the snow. I touched him and asked (in a russian language) whether he has some serious health problems or did he just drank too much alcohol. Fortunatelly, the answer was alcohol. So i pushed him to standby and and carried-supported him (his weight was about 80 kg) to the nearby house and on the 4th floor (no elevator), distance was about 500 meters. Fortunatelly, he had door keys in the pocket and at home his father or relative was quite happy the he was not left outside.

Other day at my apartment complex woman couldn’t get her car to even try and start. Turned the key and nothing. Claimed it was a new battery. I had to push her car out of the parking space and her friend showed up and we jumped her car. I told her to go to autozone and have them put their machine on it to see if there was something wrong with it since it was new. She was super thankful as she had some kind of appointment that she would have missed if we hadn’t helped.

I think acts of kindness happen far more often than people realiz or are willing to admit. It can be anywhere from holding a door to saving a life.

I backed into an SUV in the hospital parking lot a couple of years ago. I couldn't see any obvious damage on the vehicle (there was cosmetic damage on mine), but I left my name and phone number. I hoped I would never hear about it again. Unfortunately, I received a phone call from a man who told me that the repairs had been more than $600 and he then mailed me the damage report and invoice. I was in the midst of a medical crisis and didn't have any extra money. He was very kind and told me that as it was obvious that this was going to be very difficult for me to pay (and that he didn't really need the money) that I didn't need to pay him anything.

I did send him half of the damages when I received my larger-than-expected tax refund. It felt like the right thing to do. I was very grateful he was so kind and understanding.

Porking spot. Pics or it didn’t happen.

Great thread topic.

I work with homeless vets. One of my guys has zero income. The other day I saw him give a five dollar bill to a lady begging on the street. When I asked why, he said she needed it more than he did.

Whenever he gets anything from panhandling he will share with other homeless people who look down on their luck.
