WOJ: Korver to Jazz for Burks and 2 second rounders

Based on the complaints in the thread all we really want is a guy who is:

An all time great three point shooter

Guy who is young or in his prime

Also a lockdown defender

On a cheap contract.... and

We’d prefer not to give up any draft picks or useful expiring players.

Sounds like those house hunter episodes where couples want a pool, beachfront location, turnkey property, and they have a $200k budget.-

Conclusion... we should have tanked for Doncic.

I'm going to rub that smug condescension back in everyone's face when Korver turns out to be a non-factor.

I mean define non-factor. Are we going to win the championship because of this? Hell no. Are we going to win a few extra games? I think that's a yes, but some here seem to think that if it isn't the final piece to a championship team then why bother.

Could argue also that Neto has been a factor. He's made key contributions in a couple games that we won recently. Is he a factor?

I just think we got a guy that can put really unique pressure points on the defense and that fills one of our many needs.

He's still getting up 3.5 three's a game at a 45% clip in just 15 minutes a game.

I think it's likely he'll play a few more minutes on this team and there's no reason to assume he'll start shooting less or poorly once he gets here.

Time will tell of course, but I don't understand why you expect with his skill set, he won't have an impact on the most glaring offensive problem this team has.

I'm curious to see what our closing lineups will look once we get Korver integrated. I was thinking Mitchell/Korver/Ingles/Crowder or O'Neal/Gobert, but Locke seems to think they'll go with Rubio/Mitchell/Korver/Ingles/Gobert.

Korver can't dribble, but if the ball is in DM's hands down the stretch most of the time that might not be an issue. I really want to explore Royce at the 4... I'm totally convinced he'll shine there.

Think of it like Draymond... if he was playing the 2/3 he's a bad shooter, still a good passer, but not a good ball handler. As a 4 his shooting is passable (sometimes) and his passing and handling are elite. Royce is not super fast but strong and a good rebounder. Would allow him to be more physical on defense because you are guarding bigger guys.

Well, we lost some bench scoring. Bench scoring helps too. Korver will miss some games due to injuries (did I mention he's old?), and average less than 20 minutes in the games he plays. He also doesn't provide much beside hitting a three or two a game.

If it was some random player with Korver's production and age, you'd hear a collective ''meh'.

He could be a minor positive off the bench if the Jazz have more changes in mind. But for now, he doesn't really matter.

We didn't get him for free. Burks played about the same number of minutes and hit 37% on 2.7 attempts. Burks could also attack the rim (not very well, I know).

I don't think he'll hurt. And I don't think he'll help much.

Rubio needs to have his minutes swung. If he doesn’t have it going for a game, he shouldn’t be closing games. At a bare minimum.

Do you believe in spacing?

So spacing can only be provided if it meets a minutes threshold? I’ve never heard that argument.

Really? Of course it matters how much he plays. He'll provide better spacing for only 15 minutes out of the 48. Again, we didn't get him for free. We had another player playing that many minutes and producing at a decent rate.

When Donovan can't drive into the lane because the other team can pack the paint, if you pull one defender out of the mix who can never get anywhere near the paint, how does that show up in the box score? Oh, right. It doesn't.
