2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Washington seems to be going all in on the current roster. I think they hold onto Otto Porter unless they still have a very bad record in early February. Wall, Beal, Ariza, Porter, Dwight has a lot of potential for the playoffs. I think they would have to be blown away by a trade offer to take it. Something like get them out of the luxury AND get an asset.

Lmao. Dwight Howard is washed up

After coming back from an injury to start the year, Dwight averaged 13ppg and 9.2 rpg in only 26 minutes per game.

He isn't old Dwight, but when you have Beal scoring 23ppg, Wall scoring 21.5ppg, Porter and Ariza, Dwight just needs to rim protect, get rebounds and put back easy buckets.

The Wizards could be a top 4 team in the East if they could all get on the same page (which is why they got Ariza).

Lopo says go on money spree in 2020 but come on has SLC become a free agent destination or you just forgetting that part?

What?

I'm arguing against saving for free agency for 2019 and 2020. I'm saying be aggressive, add some offense now, try to win more now, sacrifice short term cap space, and then try to play in free agency in 2021. I don't expect to get anybody in 2021, but I like our chances of getting somebody better in 2021 than 2019.

This is garbage. Think about who coaches the jazz. U really think quin will like Jabari. He even said it himself he doesn't play defense. Even though he has lots of athletic ability and upside. No chance
We're struggling big time scoring the basketball. If Quinn is a smart coach he'd sacrifice a bit of defense to gain a lot more offense.

It makes sense IMO.

It just won't happen. Quin's offence just won't work for Jabari. Half court standing in the corner. Wrong system unfortunately. I think Jabari has great athleticism and hopefully he can find the right team to fulfill his potential. But it's not the jazz. I get what you're saying though

Yep.

Look at the guys on our roster who are good defenders but not great on offense (unless they are within 3 feet with a great pass)

Gobert
Favors
O'Neale
Exum
Thabo
Crowder
Udoh
Rubio

Add those 7 guys to Grayson, Niang, and Bradley who never play. That's 11 of our 15 guys. Donovan, Ingles, Korver and Neto have a lot of heavy lifting in terms of bringing their offensive talents on a game to game basis.

His offense would work fine for Jabari. He would give Parker the ball a lot more in the secondary lineups without Mitchell. He'd probably use him like he did Joe Johnson.

Quin doesn't like players like Jabari. He's not a good shooter as well. And unfortunately quin doesn't like great athletes either look at Dante he has him standing in the corner all the time. He likes slow players. Even though I think Joe ingles is really good though but hes an exception.

The whole idea behind JJ on Utah was that our offense needed a ball dominant scorer for when Hayward wasnt on the court.

And we kind of need that now with Mitchell. Not saying Parker has to be that guy, but he could be a cheap get and let you get off sub-par contracts like Crowder/Exum.

Don't get me wrong I think Jabari could be really good. Incredible athlete. But needs the right system. Let's just trade the coach and then trade for Jabari. Trade quin. And let's run with a lineup of
Dante
Donovan
Ingles
Jabari
Rudy
Even though I'm a massive fan of favs though. Let's get a coach that wants to run. What a exciting team full of athletes

1. THJ and Parker are not anywhere close to Middleton and Tobias and Mirotic. There is a ton in between that you can get for less.
2. No, we didn't really have much capspace last summer
3. Jabari and Hardaway are NOT above average offensive players.
4. I don't... or rather... I have more trust in whatever we can get with our 40M of capspace than I do in Frank and Exum.

The positives about Parker are (if you're dealing Exum/Crowder) you get off future money and have more cap flexibility.

Parker might be nothing more than an average offensive player, but he is a guy who can be an average offensive player with a large usage rate. The Jazz could use one of those players to balance out lineups without Mitchell.

The defensive issues do worry me. He has extreme lowlights out there of his awareness/effort level, but how big is the gap between him and Crowder? Crowder has hid own awful moments on defense this year, and he is pretty rough offensively when the opposing defense closes out to him hard.

I really think the lineup of
Dante
Donovan
Joe
Jabari
Rudy.
That lineup would be so good. All we need is a new coach!
Think about it Rubio can't shoot. Dante isn't a good shooter either. But Dante is 10 X better athlete, better defender, attacks better. Jabari is better athlete than favs, can run all day. And when we need to steady the play a bit Joe could run some pick and roll. Donovan would do his thing. Rudy would be the great player he is. What a great team. Let's get rid of quin!!!

This. Jabari very well could be average offensively, but you have to look at this in the larger context. Jabari hasn't been put in to a role where he is needed or relied on, as his teams have had other plans. This isn't any kind of excuse. It's just that if he came here, he wouldn't be fighting to get touches or anything, but our team would actually need to rely on him for offensive production. We have Mitchell and then outside of that we have a lot of guys who aren't even necessarily bad on offense, they just can't create offense and so they're put in a situation where they have to do something larger than their role really would be. See Crowder on teams with other offensive options (sans Cleveland). Hell, even put Royce on the Rockets last year and he looks good offensively. Our offense wouldn't be bad if we had an option or two in there that were legit primary and secondary options.

Think about it. If you have ingles. U don't need Rubio. Joe does everything better than Rubio. U only need Joe on the floor. And u put great athletes around that wow. But unfortunately quin the mastermind at stuffing things up. Wants to play Rubio. Smh no reason to play him.
